The late, great Johnny Allen "Jimi" Hendrix passed away 47 years ago today (September 18, 1970). Not all of Jimi's music was my cup of tea but his style, talent and creativity is immortal and will live forever.
Supposedly Jimi Hendrix' great grandfather was from Urbana, Illinois. When I was in school a group of us attempted to gather information on his great grandfather but in those days (late 1860's) little was kept in the way of records beyond birth and death certificates.
Rest in piece Jimi, you were one of the very best of all time!
