To start with, Reagan was open to compromise, which the Tea Party rejects. Reagan repeatedly raised taxes because he knew that it’s sometimes necessary. Reagan granted legal status to 3 million illegal immigrants. Reagan pushed Isreal on a settlement freeze. Reagan supported new gun control measures.
