After learning of Jimmie's performance I looked for the highlights of the Kansas race but they really didn't concentrate on Jimmie's superb comeback.

I can hear the Jimmie hater's howling and whining about how JJ's luck, equipment and crew chief far surpasses his talent, guts and coolheadedness under fire. LOL!!

Could this be the year that JJ becomes the undisputed GOAT of NASCAR? With Larson out we'll be pulling for the always classy and dignified JJ to win that 8th championship. In knowledgeable, fair minded folks minds JJ already is the GOAT but an 8th title would leave absolutely no argument against him!

Hey bro, not mocking you personally, just havin' a little fun with the "bro" and the bama thing. I went over the line and I sincerely apologize. However, you got snippy with Jog for no apparent reason. Ol' Jog can stick up for himself but he really didn't say anything all that confrontational.

I have proven that I can be as stupid as they get here at 4m and I'm not always proud of it, either. This time I'll take my lumps and try to make things right. No hard feelings?

I gotta' believe ol' Power boy is posting to his buddies somewhere fumin' and foamin' at the mouth as to how JJ has no talent and is just lucky and nowhere near the greatest of all time and how pee wee jr. is twice the driver with half the wins and not one legit Cup title. LOL!

No disagreement here, dobber. However, I've read where Gordo would have 6 or 7 had the straight points system of pre 2004 stayed in place and not for the championship gimmicks. Also, a case can be made that ol' arnhead wouldn't have got 7 had Billy France Jr. and NASCAR treated him the same as they did most everyone else. As has been said a million times they all run under the same rules, unless you're pee wee jr., in which case they changed the rules to allow a championship be given to a driver that only raced in 2/3's of the races as was the case in 2015. Now there's where the asterisk belongs!

I knew you were just joking around with the bro thing ,but I do appreciate you clearing the air. I wasn't mad, it just made me second guess my thoughts of your 4m character. I just chose to step away when the argument/maturity level took a dive remaining to be about me being young and from the south. I was in attempts to get you going with the original comment (but I do think its truth) just as you were jabbing me with "bro". After all, your original post was written to cause a stir right? Lol. Anyways, long story short, you wont get any hard feelings from me, anyone who gets mad on a message bored likely shouldn't be there in the first place. If its bad enough for them to hold a grudge of it, they are likely living a miserable life.

As for Jog, maybe I was snippy. Maybe he deserved it coming in there like he knows me. He nor anyone else here personally knows anything of relevance about me. I could be as nascar knowledgeable as Humpy Wheeler as far as jog knows. I just didn't appreciate him generalizing me into a group of people when we has no idea who I am or what I don't know.

So, if we are back on topic now and the joke is over... Here is what I think of the matter. Goats of nascar discussions go a lot like DLM goat discussions. To many variables to pick one guy. Cars, formats, equipment, and countless other things evolve crating different "era's" of the sport. How do you deem a greatest of something that been going sixty years? Wins? Championships? Well roundedness? It gets out of hand quick huh?

Let me end saying that I havnt been entertained by nascar Sunday's in a long time. BUT when I did watch I was indeed one of your Jimmie haters. Hated kauns. Hated hendrick. Wouldn't even shop at Lowes. Wouldn't congregate with a 48 fan...like they had leprosy. With that said, there is no denying that the 48 team is, was, and will always be the best of the "chase era". I don't believe that Jimmie is simply the best driver that's been there the last 15 years but the combination of his mesh with the team, always calm demeanor, and kanus on the pit box cant be out done. Just as I believe the same things of the mid 90's to about 02 Jeff Gordon ,and the mid 80's to about 94 Earnhardt.

When the conversation is about wheelmen and only wheelmen, we will talk about Tim Richmond!

              Peace out,......bro

spoken like a true southern gentleman , good job chris , now as for me , i,m older than kanus and chris is right about the suspension deal, but , you have to respect him for pushing the line when others wont , some times you get busted , but most of the time you win a lot of races , there (48 team) success is not based on one individual though , its a group effort ...... ROLL TIDE ROLL , the best college football team in all the land........

When all evidence indicates that you're of the shallow, short attention span ilk with all the 20 something verbal mannerisms it's not a reach to conclude that you are the rule as opposed to the exception. As I indicated, if the conversation descends to childish depths I can easily descend with it but it's much more enjoyable to play it straight. It is never my personal desire to be condescending rude unless of course someone has gone there first. As far as the initial post is concerned it stands on it's own merit and adhere's to fact. It only stirs the pot if one lets it. It's only the haters that are offended.

In regards to the NASCAR GOAT, a solid, nearly indisputable case can be made with facts of accomplishments that David Pearson is the guy. Being 20 something you undoubtedly have no frame of reference to Pearson but he's as close to being the legit GOAT as there is. Jimmie possesses many of the same driver qualities as Pearson. Not the least of which is conducting himself with the utmost class, humility and dignity 100% of the time. I believe that is a virtue that shouldn't be discounted.

Yeesh, give the bro stuff a rest, will ya'!

I have always been completely perplexed with the ill feelings towards, and raw animosity directed at someone such as Jimmie Johnson. By all accounts he's a great, great driver and worthy of being a strong player in the NASCAR GOAT conversation. He's not a dirty driver like another 7 time champion and he has all of the solid character virtues that at one time were far more important than they seem to be today. Is it that he just wins too much or is it that in today's sports environment a$$holes are more palatable and revered than decent quality human being celebrities? I just do not understand. He has always been more than gracious in his interactions with the media. I've never known him to pick a juicy bugger from his nose, flip it and then drop the microphone and walk out of a press conference because things just didn't go his way. Am I the only one that finds that repulsive and unworthy of my support and admiration? God, I hope not.

I was lucky enough to have watched Tim Richmond race at both Indianapolis in the 500 and at Daytona in the 500 and enjoyed watching him in his NASCAR heyday. I was pretty young at the time but was attentive enough to appreciate his raw talent and pure guts. He was special but unfortunately, circumstances are such that he just can't be included in the GOAT conversation.

Money plays football as much as Knaus drives the race car.

Ahhh, but the difference is that all the money in the world going towards anything that will enhance chances of winning a NASCAR race or championship is legal, acceptable and even encouraged in the world of professional racing.

Money illegally spent and academic fraud perpetrated in the name of athletic success is a sacred tenet of institutions of higher learning broken. Institutions of higher learning who are compelled to adhere to the rules, whether internally or by the competition governing body are at a tremendous disadvantage to those who have no particular degree of principal. Big difference.

Getting back to the racing aspect of the conversation. I have yet to find one anti Jimmie Johnson person to give a credible, tangible reason for their intense and undying dislike. I can understand not be a fan or being indifferent but this is full on disgust and animosity. Arnhead had a significant anti faction among fans but this obviously stemmed from periodic dirty driving techniques and later the obvious NASCAR favoritism, arrogance and propensity for whining when things didn't go the way he thought they should. Johnson has never been prone to those tactics. Richard Petty was just a hard guy to dislike and Pearson has already been discussed.

                        It certainly is baffling.
