A Great Racing Movie

We were hooking up a new BluRay player and just randomly grabbed a disc to try it out. The disc I grabbed was a very good racing movie set in the Formula 1 scene of the 1970's. I had forgotten that we had this movie on DVD. The name of the movie is "Rush". It deals with the rivalry of two great drivers of that day. James Hunt and Nikki Lauda. Don't let the Formula 1 setting deter you, it's worth every minute to watch.

I've seen almost all the racing movies ever produced and this one, in my opinion, is the absolute best. Lauda says it's about 80% authentic in it's depiction of the relationship between him and Hunt and also of the way things were in regards to Formula 1 racing in those days.

Since we're into the doldrums of the racing off season this movie is a bit of a racing diversion.

This isnt racing?. David Rogers is fun to watch here. Kyle Busch won Snowball Derby 300 this past weekend..Dichie Anderson used to take off 3 weeks a year.....offseason....

Rush is a great movie. It has been shown on Directv movie channels, several times now!

btw....CIRF, thanks for the heads-up on the Jack Hewitt book. Its been a good read. Ol Jack tells it like it is!

Dave Argabright is one of the best racing authors of all time and understands how to write about guys like Jack. He's knows what the reader wants.

Jack is the reason I began to follow dirt open wheel racing back in the late 1980's. Prior to that I was a dirt late model only kind of guy. I still pay more attention to the DLM's than the open wheelers but ol' Jack opened my eyes and made a believer out of me. I will always believe that ol' Jack is one of the half dozen best all around drivers in the history of the sport.

We've had the honor of hanging out with Jack and his wife Jody quite a bit over the years and I've never been around a person who was so accomplished at their chosen profession and as famous as Jack is but yet so down to earth. One of the big reasons Jack is so beloved is because he's one of us. He puts everyone around him at ease. The day he qualified at Indy back in 1998 we had garage passes and he had by far the biggest crowd at his garage. He is as comfortable at Indy as he is at a place like La Salle, IL or Terre Haute. I am deeply honored to call ol' Jack a friend.
