Sadly, it's been made public over the past few days that a recent cancer screening has revealed that John Andretti's cancer is back and has spread to other area's of his body. John first learned of this colon cancer in April of 2017 and after surgery and treatment he appeared to be cancer free but it's back. Let's hope there are additional treatment options at John's disposal.
I once met John in the grandstands at The Springfield Mile. He was spotting for his son Jarett who was competing in the Bettenhausen Memorial 100 for USAC Silver Crown cars. Very gracious and humble and more than willing to have a conversation. John was a clean and classy driver during his time racing in NASCAR Cup competition. Trait's that are in short supply these days in Cup racing.
John's son Jarett was not in action in his USAC wingless 410 sprint car at Terre Haute in the Hulman Classic last Wednesday and it seemed a bit odd. I would speculate Jarett may be taking some time off from his USAC deal to be with his father.
If you believe in a higher power and are spiritually inclined please say a prayer for John and his family. DAM I HATE CANCER!!!!!!!!
