It's an inconsistency in his story. There have been several inconsistencies like this one. The inconsistencies give reasonable doubt that he is telling the truth. This isn't a criminal trial, it's a job interview. The standards should be lower than what they would be in a criminal trial.

Lynn Brookes, Elizabeth Swisher, Daniel Lavan, and other classmates from Yale tell a much different story. They all describe him as frequently being stumbling drunk and Lynn Brookes says he exposed himself to her at one point. His high school yearbook has him as treasurer of the Keg City Club. He wasn't the boyscout he is trying to make himself out to be.

If these accusations are being made for political reasons, why didn't the Democrats try this against Neil Gorsuch? Even the American Bar Association recommended delaying confirmation of Kavanaugh until after an FBI investigation.
