    Grand National/Cup Mt. Rushmore

There have been several of these threads floating around cyberspace over the years. There is a late model Mt. Rushmore thread in progress right now on the other board. I don't recall ever seeing one here so here goes. Let's have some fun with this. Remember, there are only 4 faces on the real Mt. Rushmore.

    Jimmie Johnson
    Richard Petty
    David Pearson
    Bobby Allison

    Honorable mention:

    Tim Flock
    Cale Yarborough
    Jeff Gordon
    Curtis Turner
    Smokey Yunick
    A.J. Foyt

I would have to remove Bobby Allison and insert Dale Earnhardt and put Allison on Honorable mention list but, that's just me lol

Most fans would agree with you, Kid. My reasoning for putting Bobby on the mountain as opposed to arnhead is two fold. First and foremost is no one, and I mean no one has ever had NASCAR, and more specifically Billy France Jr., more deeply in their pocket as arnhead and Childress did. It's been clearly and concisely documented as to the irregularities that went in favor of the #3 team and arnhead. They are real and they are significant. For that reason we don't really know exactly where driver and team ability ended and NASCAR favoritism began.

And, Bobby ventured into many different types of racing, including Indy Cars. Ol' arnhead was very reluctant to do that accept for the January prior to his demise when he drove a sporty car in the Rolex.

I sure can't dispute that fact that Nascar and Earnhardt were closely aligned.

It was well known in the Cup garage area and in NASCAR racing circles that France Jr. had a fondness for ol' arnhead. It's documented that after ol' arnhead had procured his own personal private jet that he would have his people fly him to Daytona and pick up France Jr. and they'd go fishing in various locations in the Caribbean. This happened a dozen times or more. One prime example of the on track partiality was at Bristol in August of '99 when ol' arnhead deliberately took Terry Labonte out on the last lap of the night race. The word came directly from Billy France Jr. that the win would stand in spite of the precedence set several years before when Ricky Rudd was denied the win at Sears Point when he turned Davey Allison on the last lap. I could come up with a half dozen more legitimate examples right off the top of my head but I don't have time.

He "claims" to have made you disappear, Rr. LOL!!

It's perplexing how ol' power boy purports to love ol' stewy, the widely acclaimed, and mostly erroneous, king of "character" and "telling it the it is" but personally he can't find the gumption to lay out his reasons for his undying distaste for JJ and gordo.

Could it be the real reasons would be hypocritical and embarrassing? It's probably a safe bet that is the case.

It was said that after the last race that Kyle Bush was pouting because he was penalized for speeding on pit row ? Somebody said he went straight to his hauler and wouldn't face the media ? Sounds totally classless to me !

It might have been classless alright but, for him it was probably in his best interest that he did go straight to his hauler instead having a mic stuck in his face. He probably would have really look classless x 10.

I remember King Richard Petty saying that the media/press has a responsibility to do it's job and they can't do their jobs if the people who are making the news aren't cooperative enough to facilitate reasonable and sensible interaction. Of course the King's life has been filled with class and dignity but he's not superhuman and he's had as much bad luck and misfortune as he has good but he always handled it with a degree of decorum.

It's a mystery how there is a relatively large percentage of the NASCAR fandom, or what's left of it, that finds the childish and idiotic antics of some of the drivers as refreshing, entertaining and justifiably necessary. It's like being an complete A-hole is a character virtue to those fans and drivers that display manners and upbringing are labelled as milk toast and bad for the sport. It makes one wonder if the fans that condone and defend those antics aren't A-holes themselves and aspire to be just like them!

Some people relate to passion while others are drawn to the last picked nerd.

                      Bobby vs Girard

                      Mystery solved

The real mystery is how some people relate so passionately to A-holes. That might be the whole "birds of a feather" concept at work. Passion is much different from being an A-hole. Anyone can be passionate without being a complete A-hole, some just think it's cool.

Guys like the King, Pearson, Cale, Mark Martin and Jimmie are a very long way from being booger eatin' moron nerds. Having class, dignity and manners does NOT make someone a nerd. Some folks simply aren't intelligent enough to distinguish the difference.

Some misguided souls may call the behavior in this video clip to be passion, but in reality it's lack of manners and upbringing. What this represents is repugnance personified. Right power boy?!! LOL!
