700 were added to trucking payrolls in October but 1,000 were slashed in November. We should be seeing an opposite trend this time of the year for the holidays. November 2018 saw 4,100 trucking jobs added compared to the 1,000 lost this year. Freight volumes have dropped for the past 11 months and manufacturing has been contracting for the past four months.

January: 19,100 trucking payrolls added; 1,516,000 total
      February: 100 added; 1,516,100 total
      March: 1,200 removed; 1,514,900 total
      April: 2,300 added; 1,517,200 total
      May: 1,800 added; 1,519,000 total
      June: 1,900 added; 1,520,900 total
      July: 300 removed; 1,520,600 total
      August: 5,100 removed; 1,515,500 total
      September: 2,900 removed; 1,512,600 total
      October: 700 added; 1,513,300 total
      November: 1,000 removed; 1,512,300 total

I'm figuring what they( SS,kid ) are seeing is streamlining go to market strategy and it just simply takes less 18 wheel transport to take it all to main hubs and mail it, or farm if out to the post offices or delivery services in mini vans and box trucks.....somebody look up stats on those guys and see if any of them are closing up shop.

18 wheel transport( or over the road) will always be around for the grunt work ....but better ways are here and more are coming.

But let's face it and let's consider the source , if your looking to trash trump in some way, why not parrot future economic downturn (like that's not bound to happen anyway)and truckers going out of business by the truckload.........somebody somewhere will blindly believe it.

                right?

I just look at their sources...…...then I know its no use to read any farther!

It must be a sad life to spend so much time, searching for negative articles about someone you despise!

Amazon doesn't rely much on long haul trucking. They have fulfillment centers around the country to shorten delivery time and rely more on air freight than on trucking. The small independent trucking companies around here are busy because of a pipeline issue causing an LP shortage so it's needing to be trucked in. Now that we are starting to get enough LP farmers are finally combining the corn and hauling it to the dryers. Commodity trucking should be shielded for now. The losses in trucking payrolls appear to be tied to a slowdown in manufacturing.

If anything has slowed down it's probably just a result of the horrifying idea that any of the people on the stage during the debates could actually get in. If our President is re-elected confidence will be restored and things will continue to improve in our country. Look at how the economy took off right away when he won it.

Is that a question or a statement ? They could add that as a referendum on the 2020 ballot ! Wouldn’t that cause the oceans to rise from all the snowflakes melting down !!!
