i had a feeling there was more here than was being told , i dont know if this is what the bible referenced about disease or not , but this is gone get bad , i live in a rural area , but its not as rural as it was 40 years ago , but i would defiantly be nervous if i lived in a highly populated areas , any way , it defiantly calls for prayer in my book......

The death rate is not very high for Corona. This may be a fabricated crisis to affect our elections more than anything else. Our media tells us how to think, what, and why and it's sticks on the ignorant citizens lots of times.

One report is 2.3% death rate Nothing to sneeze at. Pun intended!!!

Radio host Rush Limbaugh recently speculated the coronavirus is being used by the “drive-by media” to “bring down” President Trump.

Limbaugh told listeners Monday, “It looks like the coronavirus is being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump. I want to tell you the truth about the coronavirus.”

“Folks, this coronavirus thing, I want to try to put this in perspective for you. It looks like the coronavirus is being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump. Now, I want to tell you the truth about the coronavirus. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks,” said Limbaugh.

He pointed out the survival rate is 98%, so only two percent of the people will die from it, which is less than the flu.

“It probably is a ChiCom laboratory experiment that is in the process of being weaponized. All superpower nations weaponize bioweapons. They experiment with them. The Russians, for example, have weaponized fentanyl. Now, fentanyl is also not what it is represented to be,” explained Limbaugh.

“There’s nothing unusual about the coronavirus. In fact, coronavirus is not something new. There are all kinds of viruses that have that name,” said Limbaugh.

Limbaugh did tell his listeners not to “let their guard down because any infection would be miserable.”

i dont know much about it , and i hope ole rush is right , but I dont think its the same as the common cold , i have never took a flew shot and i caught the flu about ten years ago and it kicked my azz for 7 days , knock on wood , i haven't even had a cold since , either way , this thing has knocked the stock markets ding in the dirt......

There certainly are some interesting and very problematic things coming out of this epidemic.

1) The root of this could very well have been a bio-research facility - bio weapons lab - outside of Wuhan and not the wet-market as first described. The virus may have "got loose" in October/November and not as late as originally thought.

2) Totalitarian regimes must show they are - in control - or they fear they will lose control. China messed this up from the get go with their handling of this and it was all about downplaying it and trying to show how in control they were. They've had a hard time putting a lid on social media with their great firewall of China and what has leaked has shown they've been inept. Take whatever China admits to and multiply it by ten.

3) This also exposes how stupid it is to have so much of our supply chain so dependent on China. Parts and supplies in manufacturing so depend on rapid delivery. On time delivery is now hurting dramatically because of so many Chinese factories being closed. These places may not reopen until April at the earliest and the ripples are already going out to Apple, Hyundai, Samsung and many others in other countries. Look for some empty shelves at Walmart in the coming months.

4) Super virus type illnesses and even the animal/human types have existed forever. Bird flu, swine flu, bubonic plague, and many others. AIDS likely had its origin in the early 1900s in west Africa when a monkey hunter cut himself while butchering an animal infected with Simian Immune Dificiency and there was a blood to blood transmittal. Because of undeveloped transportation systems in that area it took many years for the virus to mutate and spread as HIV. The gay flight attendant in the 1970s was not patient zero. In this day and age a super virus can be around the world in less than a day. Get on a plane in China and you can be in Chicago in less than 12 hours. Couple that with the incubation period of Covid-19 and this is concerning.

5) It is believed that super-carriers of this virus have already spread widely. Iran is infected and all neighboring borders to that country have been closed. Iran is also totalitarian and also inept at dealing with large scale public health emergencies. Other countries are dealing with outbreaks but are better at dealing with public health.

6) You can only treat this right now. Developing any vaccine takes way too long and is too problematic when you think of all the trials and studies that go into creating a drug. There is no fast track process for this. Treat, quarantine, monitor, and treat some more. Yes, it will run its course.

7) I wouldn't over-hype this either but I wouldn't under-hype it and pass it off as some conspiracy to screw with the election. Our nation will do well in handling this because we are open, transparent, and well equipped in regard to public health. The political leaders who are looking bad in regards to this are in China.

8) However, I will agree with the importance of having judicious control on borders. Not only is it problematic to try and have open borders and run a welfare state, it is problematic for the health of our people if this does indeed become a pandemic.

formercrewguy , i know where you are coming from and i realize this as well , the problem i see is i saw a piece on our local news this morning saying that UAB in birmingham al is frantically working on a vaccine for this but will more than likely take a min of a year to develop , even though a lot of people have died from the regular flew , as they do every year , we still have vaccines and medicine for after you get it to combat it , as fast as this thing is spreading , in a year there could be millions dead...just saying......

Markets are in panic mode and will get over it. Dems are cheering it on so they can get power. There will be a vaccine come about very soon. This doesn't seem to be a big killer disease. Older people are always at risk when a virus appears. Do not forget the flu strains are much worse than this has been.
Media over hypes everything to get attention. It needs to be addressed and it is.
