You're now trying to argue the correct way to name wars, which is irrelevant to the conversation. It doesn't matter what you think a proper name is when the argument is about what people actually called it. Even then, other nations likely would call it the American Civil War, but in the United States, there has only been one civil war to refer to, thus THE Civil War can only be referencing that specific conflict. But again, you disagreeing with a name being used doesn't prove your point at all. As for your next post, the 16% was a combination of WoNA AND War Between the States. War of Northern Aggression shouldn't sound right because it's 100% wrong/inaccurate.

Both sides during battle was thinking of what? What would be the best name. Folks in letters to the soldiers called it what? Just plain 'the war'. 'War of Northern Aggression', never heard of that one. It just don't sound right. No wonder only 16% used it. Civil Up-rising is a common term for un-rest in a country, not a name for ID. Civil War is a term.

A name of a war is by: Who- people involved, Where- what country; When- by a date. "Civil War" can be in any Country by anybody thru out history which can include 100's of wars. "Civil War" is not a clear history name, it is a so-called reason or purpose name which history can't clearly ID. It was pushed by the Negro to push the word slavery (victimhood) for more rights, get it, Civil War, civil rights, by mostly Black citizens in this country in latter years after WWII.

Are you sure it wasn’t 16 % ?Originally posted by Osiris1241 View PostWell, I can't speak for your personal experiences, but multiple surveys and studies of literature over the years (newspaper articles, book titles, books from the era) show the term Civil War becoming easily the most used title. If you lived in rural Florida, I can somewhat see people around you and maybe local tv/radio stations using other names, but on a national level, War Between States and the War of Northern Aggression barely covered 15% of usage by the 1920s, maybe earlier

America's War, The American Rev. War, War between the States, North South War, Brother against Brother War, Union and Confederate war, were all that I remember when a young child in Florida. Then, I saw on TV the letters NAACP (black people were in it), ALCU or something like that with a J in it (no ideal what they were) and civil rights (having something to do with lawyers?) and The Civil War (?). I did not know what The Civil War was about, thinking maybe it was a war between the Negro (Black Panthers) and the police having something to do about the school system with lawyers involved. Then as the Black movement grew, all I heard was civil rights, slavery, and the Civil War (the name had 'arrived' pushed by Blacks)......On AFR Focal Point, Brian Fisher gave the reasons why America was legal an valid in the Nation's history. 1) War: won land fair and square 2) Purchased: most of the land was acquired this way 3) Home-sted: citizens cleared and farmed the for a time period. 4) Agreements: to share the land....This ideal that the Natives were all butt screwed (LOL- Trolls like that), an ideal pushed by the left, it not all true. The Trail of Tears sounds so sad. The Natives had land only for themselves, but some wild Indians went out killing whites no matter what. So the Government, not so friendly, exchange the land from the East to the West to keep the wild Indians away from people......When we were kids, we played Cowboy and Indians, that is now 'R' (Left). If you play Cops and Robbers, that is now 'R' (BLM). So now, the LBGQT+, wants us to play with ourselves. What a messed up World.

I guess I don't see your point. Slavery in the USA never fell under that definition. It somewhat did in the very early colonial days (I think it was NA who brought up a man that was part of the transition from temporary/punishment enslavement to full on, permanent slavery) The idea of what slavery was definitely changed, but that change came at the latest in the 19th century, not the last 50 years

Even then, because they were treated so well, as commanded, many would stay with their master permanently!

@BBQ, yes that would clear it up a lot more, actually. @Buford, I literally said in the post you quoted that direct reparations aren't the answer.

Nobody made these bad people capture and sell them as slaves. The responsibility for this lies on them for their own actions...Originally posted by Osiris1241 View PostI'll be honest this feels like a trick question but I'll answer honestly. There are little to no correct forms of slavery. Ancient European, Islamic, African and any other forms are all wrong even if at different levels. I find the claim that slaves were being saved is very bad. African slaves weren't simply prisoners in West Central Africa. They were specifically kidnapped for the sake of being sold in the trade. In most regions where the slave trade focused, those lands were observed at the time to have a fraction of the level of slaves prior to the arrival of European traders. To suggest that African Americans should be thankful for their treatment and kidnapping is basically on the level of saying Native Americans should be thankful for the Trail of Tears happening. To answer the last part, I'm not sure what you mean by debts as I'm not one that believes in direct reparations in the present day. If you don't mean those kinds of debts, you'll have to elaborate further.
You do know that paying reparations is a totally fabricated agenda that has totally no validity...
Just stirring up someblack people for political gain is the whole idea. Created by telling these people that they are victims. A total lie!!!

If he called it reparation would you understand what he meant better? Asking for a friend.

and you didn't even answer the most basic question of what debt you were talking about.
