The death of Davey Allison was, and still is, a profound loss to racing. I was not a huge DA fan but he was a great personality from an iconic family, he was a clean driver and he was very, very good.
I had just started following NASCAR at the time of his death and really didn't comprehend what a loss his passing was until many years later.
I was a huge davey fan , he was not like his daddy , he was a down to earth regular kinda guy that would talk to any one , I was at his office in Hueytown 2 weeks before the accident and he had just finished building a landing pad on his lake right outside because he was afraid the dust would offend the neighbors , he helped me get some unique at the time parts from robert yates and I will always be grateful , RIP davey.......PS , I honestly believe he would have been the GOAT had he had a full carrier .....
