BBQ I do agree with you a lot of this is the national archive problem here. Our local library does a lot better job keeping track of books than the national archives with top secret document's. Time for them to be held accountable for their lack of action.

Um, no….I’m pretty sure having TS documents in your possession when you aren’t supposed to is a crime of some sort.
Willful retention is just code for bratty behavior, that’s all they got on him……as for Joe and pence, their only crime is being hypocritical, and kinda stupid.

Okay, so Biden had documents from his time as VP, some 6-7 years ago. He also had documents from his time in the Senate (pre 2008), some 15 years ago! Those documents have had to have been moved several times from one location to another. But I'm supposed to believe they just stumbled upon them (that's the spin) and wanted to act like a good boy returning an overdue library book. Yeah, got it. Cause 15 years is some real timely cooperation.

The VP could not declassify documents. Those documents should have not left the SCIF. A senator could not declassify documents. Those documents should have never left the SCIF if a senator was viewing them. The Joe Biden of then did not have the right to grab those documents.

A president does have rights of declassifying. Now there appears to be some obstructing in the Trump case when NARA and the Trump team got into the argument about what was taken. Ex-presidents retain a lot of stuff for libraries and such and NARA is often tasked with working with them. Sure, a subpoena was issued and some can even argue about the political imagery of that. But in the Trump case it appears that the documents in question were kept in a secure manner (his office), fortified (they put the extra locks on when asked), and under guard ( as there is a Secret Service team with him). Biden's stuff has been found here, there, next to the Vette, and everywhere.

My guess is the investigation into Hunter has revealed some things and people in the know, knew Joe had this stuff. So, those people (lawyers. spin doctors) had to get in front of the problem. Hey, we'll find our own documents and turn them in like "good guys". When we call ourselves "good guys" enough, other people will repeat it too. That's why you hire expensive lawyers to go move boxes in an old office. Two lawyers and a truck, yeah sure.
