Well we got in, as we should.

Indiana are legit but I don't know about a playoff run this year.

The portal is fine but like with a lot of things in college football it needs to be addressed properly.

Saying 'we' is way to easily distinguish who I am talking about. By saying 'we', it refers to the team and program as a whole that I am a paying supporter of.

It's like if someone said 'we' won the war when they aren't a part a countries military. They are however, taxpayers who fund the efforts.

Okay, gotcha. I guess it's just a me thing. I get annoyed with people up here in my world who speak in terms of "we" and "us" when speaking of certain pro teams. I'm too old and out of shape to play the game and I don't work for a program so those terms don't apply to me. I also get annoyed when people speak of players with first name or nickname familiarity. I've only personally known a couple few pro players who I could speak of in that sense. Since I'm an old married guy and not a 16 year old girl you'll never find me dressed in some other dude's football jersey. Just a me thing. Tee shirts with race cars to support someone's race program, absolutely. Football jerseys, not so much. But nice shirts and polos, sure. My son went to med school at UW so I have some nice school swag to go with that.

But I can see how a college program is a bit more relatable for you so, I sorta get that. Alumni, benefactors, supporters, sure thing. Taxpayers too, why not. SEC college football always seemed to be next level college football until NIL and transfer portals allowed the rest of college football to get into the big paying racket as well.

Seein's how I was strollin' through the neighborhood and this caught my eye I thought I'd put in with ya', Mr. Morgs.

I paid what I consider a sizable amount of money to my Alma Mater for the degree on my office wall and I pony up yearly stipend of moderate size to be able to attend and set somewhat where we like to set at selected sporting events. That said, over the years I have known and been quite close with a couple starters on the football team. I've witnessed first hand the devotion, their sacrifice and back breaking mandatory activities needed to make themselves good enough to step onto the field and represent their institution. No one, and I mean no one, that has not voluntarily put themselves into the fray and done what is necessary to perform at that level has a smidgen of worldly right to address the team as if they are a part of it. Paying the price to attend an institution and paying taxes lends no credence to the term "we" in reference to a sports team, especially a football team at the D1 level.

This "we" bull$hit is half humorous and half phony perpetrated by mostly meat head fans that have no real skin in the game other then the time expended to watch their favorite. Paying taxes doesn't quite cut it and the guys I'm close with that lived through the rare experience would laugh in the face of said meat head fans. I know I'd NEVER use "we" to express myself in front of those guys, who respect me for who I am, lest I be immediately corrected and reminded that the next football play I take part in on a D1 field of play will be my first!

I once again took a stroll through this neighborhood only to see we have a peckerwood fan (not even qualified to be called a "meathead" fan) trying to justify including him/herself (just in case of sex based confusion). I would love nothing more than to see the reaction of some legit participants of a D1 football or basketball program to a wimpy, pencil necked self proclaimed egg-head interjecting themselves into a conversation that implies said wimpy, pencil necked self proclaimed egg-head was in any way a "we" when expressing their involvement in setting their wimpy lil' a$$ in the stands or in front of their flat screen. I'm confident of what "$hit" would happen. You can call yourself anything you want but regardless of who you believe yourself to be you'll NEVER be a "we", but by all means keep bull$hitting yourself, it kinda' fits the profile of some of your previous posts.

CIRF, sir I don’t think anybody that uses the term “We” means anything negative towards any given school or team it’s just more of a practical quote and a expression of speech more than anything. Just diehard fans that throw around a term not thinking anything more than winning the game when said team is in action. I fully understand your view on it and I’ve never really thought about it the way you think about it and it’s a very interesting take on it. But I will say I’m as guilty as anybody about using “We” and I will most likely think of CIRF anytime going forward I do loosely use the term “We” lol
