      Should a woman be able to cross the border as an illegal with her cooter already dilating with the crown of the fetus protruding just to have that baby born in America be an American citizen birth? Is that right and correct, in YOUR mind? Does that comport with YOUR values and what YOU think as an American citizen?

      Should some millionaire or billionaire from China, or some other country, be able to get a girl pregnant, put her on a plane to America and keep her sequestered long enough to allow her to give birth in the good ol' USA have that child be an American?

      Is that what birthright citizenship was all about?

      I get it. The 14th Amendment was a post Civil War amendment meant to bring clarity to the case of slaves brought to America who gave birth to children and then those slaves were emancipated. The Supreme Court, at the time, had no concept of how so may years into the future this would be exploited. This is a good time to remind those liberals who like to argue about a "living and breathing" document when they argue the Constitution that times do change.

      You do know that if a foreign diplomat serving in the US is blessed with a new family member whist serving in the USA, that kid is not an automatic US citizen? So why should it apply to people who enter illegally? Why should it apply to people who come for a "birthing trip"?

        The Constitution is very clear: if you are born here, you are a U.S. citizen.

        14th Amendment, which states that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.”

        For all of you MAGA's An Executive order alone can't change the Constitution.

        To amend the U.S. Constitution, there are two main steps. First, the amendment must be proposed, either by a two-thirds majority in both the House and the Senate, or through a constitutional convention called by two-thirds of state legislatures. Second, it needs to be ratified by three-fourths of the states.

              The 14th Amendment was the second of three "Reconstruction Amendments" passed after the Civil War to protect the rights of newly freed slaves and solidify their status as citizens. It dramatically expanded the protection of civil rights, ensuring that the protections in the Bill of Rights applied to state governments, not just the federal government.

                    So I guess what you are saying is that birthright citizenship in the context of illegal immigration and birthing trips to the US to have babies so they can garner US citizenship and benefits is something that specifically comports with your values? Although the spirit of the original amendment was to clarify the situation of former slaves and their families you are completely fine with how it is being abused today?

                      If you want to change an amendment, there’s a specific procedure to follow, and an executive order isn’t part of that process.
