The thesis of this story is that eventually that counties with low wages and environmental standards will raise them through a gradual increase in the standard of living for it's citizens, as demanded by the citizens. I agree with that. There are several countries that went through this cycle and have a vibrant middle class and a western standard of living; Japan. Taiwan, S. Korea, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
China differs from these countries because of it's near total lack of respect for the lives of it's citizens. Although, it may be that in the end, even the Chicoms cannot vanquish the desire of humans to live free.
