Of course they have to say that! What do you expect them to say? We're socialist funded? They are funded in a big way by The Kennet Partners in Europe.

They are all funded by one group or another.

This guy has some interesting concepts. However, he undercuts them with the following stmts:

"These kids are upset b/c the $100k they paid for in order to get their degree in bitterness studies isn't paying off with a six figure job ... at an organic farm collective." Kinda sets the tone of which side he is on no?

"If you look deeply at human history, you will see that every civilization collapses the same way." This depends on which historians' perspective you are reciting. E.g. Some theorize Rome collapsed not for why he thinks, but rather by being over extended militarily and its empirical nature, the use of a complex market economy, and/or over extension of their resource availability to population.

Just FYI, these come within the first minute of the video, but I did watch the entire thing.

"Protesting the fact that they have never been hungry, never been cold, never been without TV or a car." Really? Not exactly the tropics in NYC or other occupy sites at the present.

While I admit there are bad actors, this exists in any group of people regardless of who that group is or represents.

But, to answer another question asked in an earlier post, why do some tend to agree with, side with, or sympathize with OWS? My reason is I understand labor history in this country and what has literally been fought and died for on American shores. See the Ludlow Massacre, the Redneck War of 1921 (Battle of Blair Mountain), or 1912 Lawrence Textile Strike for further details on what I am getting at, and please READ THE BACKGROUND INFO for context.

The corporate tax rate in the United States is the highest in the developed world and places U.S.-headquartered corporations at a tremendous disadvantage in the global marketplace, according to a new report.

“The costly U.S. corporate tax structure is driving competitive, profit-seeking corporations to minimize their tax exposure and defer income overseas to lower-tax countries,” states the report from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

“Unless the United States reforms its corporate tax system, the country will fall further behind in global competitiveness.”

President Barack Obama has said the high tax rate “makes no sense and has to change,” and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan agrees that the tax system is stifling America’s fiscal goals.

“The President and Chairman Ryan are correct,” the report observes, adding that without an overhaul of the tax system, America “will continue to lose jobs to countries with lower taxes.”

The federal government’s corporate tax rate is 35 percent on corporations that earn profits of more than $18.3 million, and the effective tax rate — which takes into account all deductions and credits — is 29 percent.

The country has been consistently pushed by the Democrats and the left past the political center since the early '40s'. That is to say that the Republicans have been compromising so much over the last sixty years that today we are a nation that is left of center on the political spectrum. It is many years too late for the left and the Democrats to start compromising with the Republicans instead of pushing them around and demonizing them if they don't get their way.
I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.

That must mean the people don't like what the conservatives try to push onto people.

Nice copy/paste job of Newsmax. Do you know when this 'new report' came out? I cannot locate any type of date stamp or other timeline associated with it, beyond the GE 2010 tax return diatribe. Thanks.

Oh, and it is kinda hard to be at a disadvantage in tax rates when you are hoarding cash overseas to avoid the income tax liability or are receiving TAX CREDITS to lower your US tax liability. Just a thought.

Let me guess - The right is right and the left is wrong. The 2 party system that the controlled media wants us to believe thats are only choices should have to give all parties equal exposure. This 2 party system is not working.

That must mean that over the last 60-80 years career politicians have made their own desires the focus of their years in office rather than the people's while they continued to buy the people off with pork barrel politics that kept people voting for them. Progressives used this time to gradually change things and shift America further and further to the left to the point that today JFK would be considered a fiscal conservative. Meanwhile, many people fell into that apathetic, complacent attitude that they either did not care what went on in Washington or felt that they could not stop or change it. That is why and how we are where we are today.

Maybe Motor, part of the problem too is that we blame one party over the other as being the drunken money spending sailors, when both parties actually dug the hole. At least the Dems will admit they want to have govt programs and need the funding to do so. The Repubs, not so much. I noted this part of your post transcended party lines, but I felt this was an appropriate point to bring forth.

As to society being pushed left by Progressives, what is the direct reference here: Civil/Equal rights - which was started as a result of Supreme Court decisions and under JFK in an executive manner; Environmental regs - EPA was created b/c INDUSTRY continued to ignite the Cuyahoga River on fire; or Labor laws - see post # 64 above for thoughts related to this.

If you are thinking of something else, let's discuss such items.

And here, before a kid is old enough to buy a pack of cigarettes, regulations have been so relaxed, that they can take out $40k for a year of school. And we're talking $100k+ before they are potentially even old enough to buy a beer, and over $120k before it's over.

If that isn't the very definition of 'predatory loans,' I don't know what is. 20 years ago, a student working part time could afford to pay for school. Not anymore. As lobbyists and schools pushed for more loan fund availability, suddenly tuition skyrocketed.

But now it's blame the kids, instead of the politicians and bankers who've made this possible.

An Ohio resident can go to the University of Cincinnati for $10419/year. Students have to be able to make an intelligent, informed decision. I went where the dollars made sense, not where I wanted to go.

I'm sorry, I missed who was holding the gun to their heads to take these loans??? You do nothing but MAKE the point that these kids think they are OWED everything. If you can't afford college, hey, here's an idea....don't go. Maybe you need to go to a community college or a trade school. Hey, maybe even work your way up from an entry level job. That's a novel idea.

I wish I had the option to declare I'm not getting my money's worth from my loans....I don't think I should have to repay them. Silly me, I'm "old school" and think I have an obligation to honor the contract I signed to pay it back, REGARDLESS of whether it was a smart and repayable loan in the first place.
