Sometimes you just wish they'd live forever so you didn't have to confront the loss. I remember being at my aunt and uncle's house in the Black Hills watching what was happening. You just knew you were witnessing a great historical moment, one that could never be repeated.

It's a day I'll never forget, watching from home as a kid in the far west suburbs of Chicago.

He was a true American Hero, and a legend in his own time!!
