No wonder you and the Shoals Indiana Bandit get along so well. 2 guys who have never done anything sitting around criticizing everyone else who has.

I agree with getting help when my son wanted to race the first thing we did was befriend the local car builder\ driver . Keep in mind I am no dummy as I raced limited late model \built my own stuff and worked in a chassis shop in the early 80s. I thought i knew how much things had changed over the years but I found it really had not but it got us off on the right foot. When I started I was just a kid people liked me and took me under their wing I listened to everything they said was never a smart ass to them remember you can learn a lot by listening and keeping your mouth shut. I agree the weekly cost is the killer it cost my son 25$ to get in pits 50$ in fuel for truck 35 to 50$ in fuel in car buy it by the drum if you can afford it it is cheaper that way anyway he is out around 100 to 125$ without any damage if you add in any food/drinks / snacks etc it is easily 150$ a nite and he races for 200$ to win yep we are all insane and this is for a hobby car that is basically a stock clip late model . Last week he tore up 1 shock 75$ 2 fender tops free scraps from another racer 2 days beating body out and remounting oh yea I forgot rear bumper repair free scrap tubing spray paint power for welder etc 15$ maybe and he really needs 2 new rear tires 300$ plus tax this is what kills weekly racers as someone else posted but we all love and that keeps us all coming back for more.

Thank you everyone for the great advice! It helped alot I found a guy at my track that is willing to let me put for him and teach me stuff so ill start there
