And just what kind of difference will this make at our gas station? None! Our government has not only discarded monopoly laws but curtails any new competition of oil refining or distribution. When you only have a hand full of oil companies, the price at the pump, will be what ever they want it to be.

We have access to more oil then the middle east right here in our own country. All we have to do is get the politicians out of the way.

Just oil production here has no effect on our price. Oil is a world wide commodity. We export oil. Oil is sold to the highest bidder.

Do you believe we keep all the oil we produce? A large share of Alaskan oil is shipped directly to the Far East, yet we import from the middle east.

Our problem isn't production, it's about who i allowed to produce and refine. If you can remember back to the 50s 60s, we had a lot of oil companies. The competition drove prices down to the point of gas wars. Now we have a handful and they can dictate the price and do. Our government lost sight of what monopoly laws did. Now they write regulation that promotes it. So much for a free market.

Ahh, the old blame game. how about we put most of the blame where it belongs. Go back to when Regan trashed the monopoly laws and deregulated. We would have free market competition to keep prices low today. I can see why people can't see what they do today will effect things 20 years down the road, but I can't see them being so blind they can't see what the past actions have done. Regan was a likable guy, but he did more to harm this country than any president since Wilson.
