    Imagine for a second

hat your 18-year-old neighbor drives a corvette, rarely obeys the speed limit, never stops at stop signs and has a penchant for texting and driving. Now, imagine that neighbor #2 drives a minivan, never drives above the speed limit and respects all traffic laws. Who do you think is going to cost the car insurance company more to insure? Obviously neighbor #1. Why am I writing this? Because this simple story explains the economics of why #Obamacare's real problem is not the website, but the faulty economics underlying it. The reason nearly everyone is seeing their healthcare premiums increase under Obamacare is due to its use of what's called community rating and guaranteed issue. These two faulty tools mean that everyone in the community cannot be charged a premium equal to their risk but they must be charged what the government says is "fair". To offset the costs of higher risk customers, everyone will be forced to pay more and given that the millions of "neighbor #2's" they needed to enroll in order to subsidize the "neighbor #1's" have refused to enroll, expect your costs to skyrocket even higher next year. The irony here is that if we had just passed legislation giving lower-income individuals income-based support to buy a private plan themselves rather than bankrupting hundreds of thousands of Americans and forcing them off their current healthcare plans, because of the mounds of faulty regulations, based on broken economics, a healthcare solution would be sitting in front of us. And, to add insult to injury, this was done to empower DC bureaucrats and to eviscerate the private healthcare insurance industry. If there was ever a time for change, it is now.

But you could never convince the electorate of that in the first place. Those idiots Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck have been saying exactly what would happen for three years, and here we are....guess maybe they weren't "idiots" were they....

I dont understand why any young adults would sign up, just pay the cheap fine. Then if some health issue comes up, then get insurance to pay for it. It like driving without car insurance, then having a wreck and then signing up for car insurance to pay for repairs.
Mudslinger remember a conserative never has a good thought or idea by liberal standards. We just want the poor to remain poor, those hungry to remain hungry, the homeless to remain homeless, the elderly to starve, and eat dogfood. We want dirty air and water. We dont want minorities to vote because we ask them to have ID, although they need ID to get food stamps. I could go on and on.

Imagine for a second if we actually lived in a country where we had affordable health care for all without the ACA. Where we lived in a country that you could not be denied health care because of pure existing conditions. Imagine we lived in a country where the politicians worked together for the good of everyone and not just those that line their pockets. Both sides have lost their way and we are paying a big price for that. What a shame.

Mudslinger they dont know what socialized single payor system health care is! As a cancer survivor, I would be dead in canada system, I had a cat scan less than 6 hours after concerns were noted by Dr. I had my cancer tumor removed within a week of seeing the Dr. Started radiation within 2 weeks. That was 15 yrs ago. That simply does not happen in Canada. Canada has a 6 week wait period for a ct scan, by that time, my cancer would have spread.
Also a question, when was the last time Canada or England came up with a medical treatment, medical device, so on that help cure or prevent a disease or illness?????

The CBO states even with ACA that 30 million people will remain without health care insurance. What about those folks?

I can understand for the life of me, that if I had a health care insurance plan, that I liked and prefered. It could possible gone, because it does not meet the standard that the GOVERMENT says I need. Which is occuring all over this land. I'm happy with a my plan, but because if does not have substance abuse care, it not good enough for Obamacare and goverment. What the Hell and how in the Hell does goverment and obama, know whats best for me!!! Totally a loss in freedom.
Same with a 50-60yr old women needing to have maturnity care. Why in the world should that women have to pay for maturnity care!!!

Mud, I have read a few articles about how many Canadians are coming to America for treatment and they are only 1% coming across the border for health care. Now I'm sure you will find a article that says there are more but, I would bet it's not as much as you would want us to believe.

Like I said don't you wish we had affordable health care in this country without having the ACA.

What I don't agree with is people losing their health care they already have that is B.S. AND NEEDS TO BE CHANGED.

Yes and that's not good but, people are not leaving the country in droves like some want you to think. Yes there are some things that need to be fixed. Like I said it's BS that anyone would have to lose their current plan and that needs to be fixed.

There was a lot of things wrong with our health care system and the prices where going up at around 20 to 25% a year, when they passed the ACA. Prescriptions kept going up and everyone that didn't have health care used emergency rooms or when they had serious problems, the just filed bankruptcy and we paid for it with $20 aspirins and jacked up premiums. We needed a fix, we just didn't need the one we got. I have no dog in this fight. I'm exempt. Veteran health care. I just don't like seeing anyone getting screwed or rich from this.

Too bad they couldn't sit down together and work out a plan that was good for most of the people.

As far as Canadian health care, I have a couple friends from up there and they say their health care is a lot like the insurance they used to have or the insurance most of us have. It's great until you get sick. I can remember paying out almost 20K in two years in the early 80s for co-pays and prescriptions. It was a bad couple years for the wife. To make matters worse, it was her insurance threw her employer. One of those great government job insurance, and when she couldn't work, the premiums went up from $400 to $800 a month.
