It seemed like a simpler time back then. A clear cut enemy or so we thought. In the early 40s our financial ruin of today already had a 30 year head start. We had to fight that war. This song was a cry for unity, nationalism and patriotism that kept up spirits during a dark time.

The thing most didn't understand, was why the United States didn't get in the war earlier. They where our allies getting their butts kicked, even our close neighbor, Canada. It seems the Capitalists learned a valuable lesson from WW1. If you stay out and sell war materials for gold, it is very profitable. Lend Lease was more like Airplanes for gold. The FED had been in place for only 30 years and the FED stockholders where getting very rich. Even after we got into the war, the money kept rolling in. Buy war Bonds was a standard part of Kate's radio show. Sure them war bonds bought military supplies but they also paid FED shareholders 6%. Now, how would you like to get 6% on money you never had. It was pure debt. The FED has a lot of clout in congress, but they should. They paid for it.
