    Best Screen shot EVER!!! lol

I finally did it. After reading a whole lot of Terry Earl, I finally came to the conclusion that he's just mentally not altogether right. He really does buy into the conspiracy theories completely. So I did some reading about people who believe conspiracy theories, and there's this thing called "Self-Sealing line of reasoning" that seems to describe Terry perfectly.

"Basically what’s happening in any conspiracy theory is that people have a need or a motivation to believe in this theory, and it’s psychologically different from evidence-based thinking. A conspiracy theory is immune to evidence, and that can pretty well serve as the definition of one. If you reject evidence, or reinterpret the evidence to be confirmation of your theory, or you ignore mountains of evidence to focus on just one thing, you’re probably a conspiracy theorist. We call that a self-sealing nature of reasoning." (you can read the entire article here: http://www.salon.com/2013/04/24/why_...racy_theories/)

It summed him up perfectly. So once I discovered this article and it defined him to a T, it became apparent that debating anything else with him was quite frankly pointless, as he really does fit the description perfectly, and by his very nature, NOTHING is going to get through to him.

So I just deleted him. I will be quite happy to continue discussion with other members of the board still grounded in reality, but as far as Clayton Wetter (Terry Earl) goes, well. Been fun, but I don't talk to people who aren't even in the same reality as the rest of us.

Professor Stephan Lewandowsky, a cognitive scientist at the University of Western Australia, published a paper late last month in the journal Psychological Science that has received widespread praise for looking at the thinking behind conspiracy theories about science and climate change. We asked him to explain the psychology of conspiracy theories.

No. Not Salon. Salon just interviewed the guy who wrote the paper published in Psychological Science. If you take issue with his findings, please refer your criticism to the Professor and the peer reviewed journal, not Salon.

This is far different than World Nut Daily and Glenn Beck publishing THEIR OWN crap. Salon didn't do the research or formulate the theory. They just reported what a distinguished and learned Professor wrote.

Go ahead and throw out another dumb comment about "overeducated stupid people" and show us how "brilliant" YOU are.... lol You just hate people who are educated and have a deeper understanding of issues than you, and who can actually think deeper than the bumper stickers you get your ideas from.

"It’s the need to explain and control, as I said, but it can be other things also: A general sense of disgruntlement, feeling excluded from society. Feeling discriminated against. Even insecurity in one’s job."

Hmmmm... think this describes anyone on here?

Everyone is prone to some degree of bias and motivated reasoning — where do you draw the line, if there is one?

The crucial difference between having a preconceived notion — we all do that, of course — and conspiratorial thinking is when you get into that self-sealing reasoning and ignore every piece of evidence that is pointing the other way, when you’re starting to broaden the circle of conspirators, and when your skepticism gets to be nihilistic — when you believe absolutely nothing that the government or the media is saying — that’s when you’ve crossed the line.

Geee... wonder who THAT sounds like.... For more information, check out TheBlaze and pay a subscription fee for more random acts put together in new and convoluted ways! New World Order.... Caliphate....Muslim Brotherhood....Obama the Kenyan Muslim Infiltrator....

The other thing that always struck me about Terry Earl's contributions is you could bet that if Glenn Beck came out with some new conspiracy theory, Terry would be on here the next day telling everyone about how we were all being duped and misled because we didn't know about the Muslim Brotherhood, Caliphate, whatever.

When I was in college you would get these faux-intellectuals who would go to philosophy class one day then turn around the next day and be spouting whatever latest theory they just read like they knew it inside and out and were experts in it. Kind of reminded me of Terry Earl coming on here repeating whatever Beck told him yesterday like he really knew what he was talking about.

I just looked up at the screen and did a quick count, too. Since I put Terry and Freddy on ignore, this post must have really pushed some buttons, cause I'm scoring 5 Wetters and 2 Lite Inns in replies.... lol

I find it totally ridiculous that you made a return after your meltdown a couple days ago. But through the support of free speech, knock yourself out with your Liberal Progressives falsities and putdowns of the Tea Party and the Conservatives. Feeling sorry for you is out the window now. You ARE the very essence of Marxist propaganda and the hatred of how this nation was founded and those who would want to destroy it.

BTW, I hope I am still on your AWESOME ignore list!!!
