You're as bad as t.nie. You pick one little blurb, use it out of context, and don't acknowledge the fact that he is joking around. That's why I wanted t.nie to provide a link for me. I wanted to see exactly what he looked at or read, and how he twisted it and took it out of context. Of course, I knew he wouldn't provide it, because he knew he would be proven wrong once again. He instead chooses the "I won't do your research for you" response and starts his name calling again. If you have read Phil and Kay's story, you would realize that you just described with those words the Original Duck Dynasty, had it been filmed in Phil's hayday of drinking and drugs and womanizing. In fact, they actually separated because of it.

Truth be known, the Robertson's are a dysfunctional family that managed to get their act together, and more power to them. But Phil Robertson as a good role model is freaking hysterically laughable. Now, if he wanted to go talk at AA meetings, juvenile delinquent centers or prisons and tell other people he was just like them and yes, you can change for the better and you don't have to let your life end up in some hell hole wishing you were dead, then that's the perfect place for him to speak. But I don't need this washed up halfwit former drunk with his muddled up twisted views on sin and God spreading his message, because quite frankly, he still doesn't have a good grasp on things. He just professes to.

Quite frankly, if you are getting your guidance from ANYONE who has chosen to allow cameras to film them all day long for the purposes of being on TV as a reality TV show actor, you need to rethink your approach to life. Just BEING on a reality TV show, consenting to it, tells me something about the kind of person you are. Seeking glory, seeking fame, seeking attention maybe?

Not who I want as a role model. But hey, Mudeater, to each their own, right?

I'm also going to add one more thing to this. He is an elder at this church, but have you gone to their church website? And I am going to offer this observation, because I lived it in a small church where I grew up. People with money get their own way in churches, too. They get their butts kissed, no one disagrees with them, regardless of what they do. They get much praise and little criticism.

If The Robertsons weren't the richest people in town, or in half the state, if Phil was a truck driver and the boys all construction hard hat dudes, would that church even exist? Would Phil Robertson be an elder? Think about that long and hard, because my experience with a little small town independent church taught me that the people with money go on to be elders, and the people with the money to build stuff and donate get what they want, up to an including the message from the pulpit.

I saw possibly the best minister I have ever witnessed face to face get fired for calling the wives out for being gossips and spreading rumors. He knew the elders wouldn't like it, but it was a cancer in the church and he felt it was his job as the pastor to make it an issue and put a stop to it.

He was gone 3 weeks later. The money men didn't like it. Now tell me honestly, does Phil get to be an elder because of Phil, or does his money and all of their money do a lot of talking in that church?

Oh, and if you look at their church, show me the black folks.

This church is in rural Louisiana, and there are NO black people as elders or ministers, and you have to look pretty hard to find any black faces, anywhere in the pictures at their church. Ouachita Parish is 65% white and 34% black and West Monroe is 61% white and 34% black. So..... why no black people in their church when 1/3 people in the local population are black?

We are ALL sinners. But, in the end that's all that matters is if you "manage to get your act together" as you say he has.

Maybe someday you will figure out that taking people's words out of context, twisting them around by adding your own spin to them and then spitting them back out doesn't prove anything. It just makes the person doing it look incapable of making their own point without misrepresenting someone else.

Tnie is chain yankin'....or at the very leaast yankin something.... With all the reality trash on TV, it's nice to watch one that isn't filled with bleeps. I have to date only watched about four or five episodes and its OK but not my cup-o-tea really. Are the Robertson family a role model? Absolutely... Any family that makes it through what they went through and end up in a walk with God is deffinately a role model.
