You're right hp. The New Madrid fault could produce an earthquake of 7.7 which is estimated will cause upwards of 3000 deaths in Memphis alone.Originally posted by hpmaster View PostFunny about all this talk about earthquakes when the New Madrid fault in MO. lets go it will make Cali's tembles look like nothin
The 1811 New Madrid quake caused the Mississippi River to appear to flow North for a day or so. Many river vessels were overwhelmed by the huge waves on the river and some were thrown quite a distance inland from the banks of the Mississippi. It's been debunked over the years that the big river actually flowed backwards but it fooled a lotta' people.
Supposedly we're too far North to sustain damage or loss of life but no one knows for sure. I've talked to insurance people who are supposed to be experts on the subject and they've assured us that we're far enough North. However out in Cali nearly the whole state is in a fault line zone that extends over 800 miles North to South and the possibility of a 7.5 or stronger earthquake in California is almost 50% and the odds get better every day!
But hey you can go golfing in the winter!! LOL!!Last edited by CIRF; 01-02-2015, 02:50 PM.

Doesn't matter to me what temperature it's going to be in the strange land of fruits, nuts and incredibly high taxes or whether you can go golfin' 'cause I don't golf and don't wanna'.
Everybody's where they wanna' be. We're all content, I reckon. LOL!!

They ain't got enough bottle rockets to get it off the ground....they'd be like Ralphy, they'll shoot their own eye out... Its not enough to have the bomb, you have to deliver it....can you say scud missile? Yup, that be Korea... They might be able to scare Sony but they'll have to work a bit harder to get the rest of us nervous...
