I wonder if this is the first time Ford has won every race at Daytona including the proto type race at the 24 hr. Not a ford fan at all but you gotta give credit were it's due.

Austin is good and he stepped into the #3. There is no way NOT to hype that. It was the 500, on the last lap, moves like that get made. Bummer that it happened but I wouldn't label him as wreckless based off of that. They have something they want to prove and are doing their best. Again, they're not Jimmy or Jeff, but they're far from being bad.

No. Lacking in talent? It would appear that way so far. Look what happened in the 2014 Daytona 500. How many wrecks was he responsible for in that one? In 50 starts in Cup competition the grandkid has led a total of 10 laps and has just 1 top 5 finish. Given those numbers I reckon there is very, very little to hype accept the number on the car.

CIRF has a bonar for anyone that has anything to do with Earnhardt, go back and read some of his post and you'll see what I mean, I think it has something to do with being picked on as a kid.

Biased?! Exactly what is the objection with the term "rich grandkid"? Isn't that what he is? He sure as he!! didn't get to NASCAR based on his driving merits. As big of a gasbag as Harvick is he nonetheless pretty well nailed the situation to a T over a year or so ago. The "rich grandkid" in the #3 car was moderately successful driving in a dirt track support class prior to making the quantum leap to NASCAR. Wouldn't that give cause for just a bit of skepticism?

Given the "rich grandkids'" performance in the past 2 Daytona 500's it appears the hype is sorely misplaced even more than that of the driver or the #10 car. 10 laps lead in 50 starts? 1 top 5 and 4 top 10's? Really?

And, to base all the hype on a car number? There is no way the remaining few NASCAR fans are that naive, is there? Okay, well maybe.

Let's face it, if any one of us was in the same situation we'd all ride the tide for as long as it lasts, but the "rich grandkid" didn't get where he is on the merits of his accomplishments. It would be nice if for ever "rich grandkid" there was a guy who busted his a$$ and sacrificed and was legitimately good enough to get to the big leagues, but it's unclear as to whether that's the case. I personally doubt it.

CIRF, I can't believe I'm even taking the time to respond to this. Your use of the term rich grandkid is obviously derogatory because you don't like him. Please don't try to play it as you're just stating a "fact". It is a fact, you're also using it as a jab at Austin.

As to your claim that he went from a dirt track support class to the main even in NASCAR.... 2010 Camping World Truck Series ROTY. Camping World Truck Series 2011 points champ. 2012 Nationwide Series ROTY. 2013 Nationwide Series points champion.

Your hate for the rich grandkids is quite glaring. Please just stop. They're rich, we get it. His accomplishments PRE 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pretty much stands on their own. Unless of course the Truck and Nationwide series are just a breeding ground for hacks. I think this is a case where we're just going to disagree.

If it's true is it hate? Hmmmm. Isn't it just calling a "rich grandkid" what he is, which is a "rich grandkid". I am, however, 100% positive that the "rich grandkid's" don't give a fat rats ass what I, or most anyone else may think 'cause they got the ride and they got the hype comin' their way.

I would ask to be enlightened of all the stalwart accomplishments of the "rich grandkid's" prior to them jumping into one of grandaddy's NASCAR trucks or one of his Cup cars turned ARCA cars.

Mit, I have no idea what your attachment is to these kids and in all truthfulness I don't care, but I don't wish to hurt your feelings and I'm sorry if I did.

But if being slightly put off by phony hype is being a hater then I plead guilty as charged. And then watch the same guy who is way over-hyped wreck a 1/2 dozen cars last year and 2 or 3 more this year in the Daytona 500 isn't what is generally thought of as the next big thing.

I get what you're saying. Just a fan of Austin and Ty. I think they're great with the way they carry themselves. They're good for the sport IMO and bring some attention to the dirt world when they run which I appreciate.
