Are their any politicians out there that are NOT crooks? We definitely have a bad track record here in Illinois but this kind of cr@p goes on in every State. Their is not a politician one who has not done something illegal during their term in office.
Aaron Schock is a bit of an anomaly in the history of crooked Illinois politicians. He's not from chitcago which is usually the prime criteria for law breaking elected officials.
Schock has been heading towards his ultimate demise almost since he was first elected so no one is all that surprised at his resignation. What is surprising that Schock gave up the ghost as quickly as he did. It's been just 6 weeks since Schock came under scrutiny. Most in Illinois figured he'd at least go down kicking and swinging. That makes one wonder if the other shoe will drop in the form of criminal prosecution.
One thing is for sure, there aren't many who feel the least twinge of empathy for Aaron Schock.
One of the founding fathers (I forget which) said democracy was the worst form of government but was better then what was available.
The system can work but it takes some responsible politicians to have the courage to stand up to big money and the Koch Bros. and make the changes necessary.

Right, you see it Nasty. We don't know who's going to get stupid until they get caught doing it, and Illinois will simple not put up with it. Other States should do the same...

I dont understand these politicians they should know that eventually they will get caught up in some bs and get into trouble... and with him doing it on a vehicle that has documented mileage and he did it anyway just blows my mind.

Let me make sure I got this right. Illinois has less criminal activity perpetrated by public officials because they are robustly prosecuted? This zealous prosecution of Illinois' crooked politicians has missed more than a few of the criminal element. Two of the biggest were long time mayors of chitcago both with the last name of Daley. They were always able to have plausible deniability due to the henchmen they had on their payroll making sure nothing dirty ever got too close to either one of them
We had an esteemed Secretary of State here in Illinois by the name of Paul Powell that had in his possession at the time of his death $800,000.00 IN CASH in his Springfield hotel room residence. His estate was worth over $4.5 million dollars in racetrack stock in spite of the fact his highest salary as an Illinois public servant was $30,000.00. The FBI did an investigation after Powell passed away that revealed that Powell had long been accepting bribes for noncompetitive construction contracts.
Ever heard of "Big Bill" Thompson? He was the mayor of chitcago for a while and was pretty much run out of office because believe it or not he was a bit too crooked, even for chitcago and Illinois.
There also was an Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice whose name and the details of his crimes escape me at the moment that ran amok of the law and either died or resigned and had covered his tracks before the other shoe dropped.
Then we have Derrick Smith who is/was a member of the Illinois House and was charged with bribery and expelled from the legislature in early 2012 only to be RE-ELECTED in November back into the Illinois legislature and the legislature couldn't expel him again. Something about double jeopardy or the like. He will eventually lose his seat but the last I knew he was still on the public payroll.
Please tell us again how hard we in Illinois are on our crooked politicians. I had to look twice to make sure you weren't joking!

I don't think Captain was insinuating that they caught all the crooked politicians in Illinois CIRF I do believe that he was referencing that the ones that do get caught Illinois don't mess around with.. That they prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law... H3ll the biggest crooked politician out of Illinois is our stupid a$$ president..... He came from Chicago if I'm correct?
