Larson seems like an honest kid. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and believe he'd prolly say the same thing. I don't remember ever hearing the guys that have won extensively on r-plate tracks saying they liked racing at Daytona and Talladega. Jeff Gordon comes to mind. He won a bunch of r-plate races and I don't remember him ever saying those places were his favorite tracks. However, I have heard him say he really loved Martinsville.

Dale jr says he likes the restrictor plates ,and face it most the NASCAR guys are a bunch of whiners and who said this The Daytona 500 is a career-winning race. It's a very safe bet that Dale Jr. enjoys the success he's had at r-plate tracks however I don't remember him ever saying he enjoys the actual racing at those tracks. I could be wrong and if I am I'll stand corrected. There IS a difference.

What Larson says can easily be perceived as "whining" but regardless of how it is perceived it's still the truth and cannot be denied as such.

I'm not an attorney but I'd bet a fair amount of money that there are provisions written in Larson's driver contract with Ganassi and also in the Target sponsorship contract that Larson is contractually obligated to compete's in all races covered by those contracts. And it's a virtual certainty that Daytona and Talladega are among those races. Illness, injury and special circumstance more than likely being the exception and the driver not liking the type racing is probably not defined as a special circumstance.

            I don't see him having a choice.

                Oh, I'm sure he will.

If ya' want to see Larson race at Daytona without a restrictor plate tune into Fox Sports 1 in about 5 minutes. As a matter of fact Larson was the overall winner of this race last year at Daytona along with his teammates Jamie McMurray, and 2 former winners of the Indy 500 Tony Kanaan and Scott Dixon.

Old timers also remember when {BUFFET} Benny Parsons was so moved about his Daytona 500 win that he wrote a poem about it !

Winning the World or DTWC doesn't carry much weight outside of the realm of dirt late models. Winning The Chili Bowl gives a driver national exposure well beyond the realm of midgets. Just ask Tim McCreadie. Tim winning The Chili Bowl is the most publicized and respected accomplishment of his career with lasting effects. As long as he chooses to do so he'll have a spot in The Chili Bowl Race of Champions, which is a fairly big win in and of itself.

Billy Boat's driving career was advanced as a result of winning CB.

it does to those drivers and Tim Mcreadie has a hard time competing anymore in the late models and after his win at the chlli bowl where did it get him

I kinda disagree that the Chili Bowl is much of a much... any more then any other big race...I agree that in the midget world its a big deal.. but after that...not so much... How many times did Steve Kinser win the Bowl?

What CIRF doesn't understand is that many drivers don't want or need the prestige to make their career
