I'm sure there will be revisions and adjustments, but for the basic deal it looks good on paper and won't impact racing at all...
Folly? I'd be extremely interested if the Wood Brothers knew 3 years ago that they were going to get fukked out of a charter on some BS technicality. Does anyone suppose they may have attempted to qualify for all the races since Feb. of 2013 if they'd have known how this deal was going to come down?

This helps fledgling teams? Don't bull$hit yourself, even you could get a franchise if you've got enough money and willing to spend it.

Well thought out? Dam right it is. It's NASCAR appeasing the big money sponsors and big money owners to attempt to perpetuate the satisfaction of their own greed.

NASCAR gave the Charters out, so how did they make money on them? This benefits the small teams far more then the large ones... you can not be that ignorant to not understand that, unless your hatred of NASCAR is clouding your thinking... The big money teams already have the big money and the big sponsors ... the charter deal does nothing for them except to insure full fields so they still have a place to race....

As for Wood brothers, its a shame. Nascar makes exceptions for everything, but Wood brothers, sorry. It could be possible bad blood between Woods and France family????
This isn't hard to understand, if you make an exception for one team, the charter becomes worthless... Has nothing to do with bad blood, they did not try and qualify for every race since 2012 , the teams that did, got a Charter.... I believe that the purses will be paid to the teams and they will intern pay the driver their percentage or what ever incentive there is...which would account for reworking the pay package..

And don't forget, Jr. is an owner and this Charter system could work its way into the Exfinity series easy enough... Jr. might be a lot of things, but stupid ain't one of them...

So, what your saying is screw every other small team out there, give the Wood Brothers a Charter regardless of the rules...hence making the Charter worth less then the paper its written on... I don't think even the Wood brothers would agree to that...

A quote from Eddie Wood: So while there is disappointment at being excluded, Eddie Wood reiterated that decisions made in the past put the team in its current situation. But he said he would not change the way things played out if given the chance.

"I wouldn't turn around and switch it for that win with Trevor here if you gave me two Charters," he said. "That is how much winning (the Daytona 500) means. It is this race. Not just a race, (it's) the race. This race is above all others. I don't care if it is Indy, Le Mans, this race is above all others."

NASCAR can approach prospective sponsors with a reasonable assurance that at least 36 cars and their sponsors will be locked in regardless if they qualify at 200 mph or 2 mph. Now that is in the spirit of fair and equal competition, isn't it?

Those assurances partially equate into title sponsors and official NASCAR products, etc. However, unfortunately for NASCAR, those assurances do not equate into attendance and viewership numbers.

NASCAR is definitely not a sport and it's silly and misguided to believe it is. What it is, is a cash cow business and is run similarly to professional wrestling and other exhibition activities. And those are just a couple of more reasons why NASCAR cannot be taken seriously by objectively minded race fans. There are many, many more but the list is way too long to post here.

You really need to study up on the Charter just a little bit before you make dumb comments like that.... and once again, the Wood Brothers, whom you wail over are good with it...let it go...you'll feel better in the morning...

Oh really, the Wood Brother are good with it? So, you've no doubt spoken with them. LOL!!

Actually I feel pretty good right now but will feel even better when the wingless sprinters start to hotlap at Bubba Raceway Park late this afternoon. Real race cars on a real race track driven by real race drivers!! Hard not to feel good about that!!
