James Hinchcliffe is a great story. Last year at Indy he was very nearly killed and sustained a serious spinal injury. It's been written that James worked 7 days a week, up to 10 hours a day rehabilitating himself. Missed last year's Indy 500 and the rest of the 2015 Indy Car season.

I have the utmost respect for a guy that nearly died in a crash, works his ass off getting back into physical condition. Just a short year later he straps his ass into a racecar and runs down into turns 1 & 3 flat footed, turns that thing dead left 16 times over the course of two 10 mile qualification runs. That's not counting the hundreds of miles of practice throughout the month of May.

Any man who boasts those kinds of credentials is to be commended!! Plus, he's a mannerly, humble and gracious guy.

Judging from this hilarious pearl of wisdom you're very easily amused and entertained which explains why you're so intently immersed in NASCAR gimmick racing.

It's important to know and understand the subject matter when commenting. That is a virtue that is obviously devoid of your repertoire, especially when it comes to racing. Not wanting to fall into the same category we looked it up and this Skelton guy has been dead since 1997 and stopped performing in 1971. We mighta' missed him.

But that still doesn't clarify any remote connection to James Hinchcliffe. Must be an inside joke, albeit a bad one. Kinda' like NASCAR gimmick racing! LOLOL!!

Well folks, we're walking out the door and heading out with the camper. Destination: Terre Haute, Indiana and the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds home of the Terre Haute Action track. Then on to Speedway, Indiana and we'll be camping within 3 blocks of the most famous racetrack in the world.

The Hulman Classic USAC National Sprint Car race is on tap for tonight with the hope that the weather cooperates. The Hoosier Hundred featuring the most beautiful racecars in the world, the USAC Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars. And of course the 100th Indy 500 Sunday.

This is a biggest weekend of racing we do all season and it's a special time of year for us. Kinda' like Christmas in May! LOL!

I would humbly ask that those of you who believe in a higher power that listens to our prayers say a little prayer for those which this holiday was set aside for. The fallen hero's that have paid the ultimate price and those maimed and scarred for life in defense of the freedom that we enjoy throughout our lives.

You all have a great weekend!! You too muddy!!! LOL!!

Actually Red Skelton did not quit performing in 1971 his show might have ended in 1971 but, he still did stand up and how I know my dad who is by the way a Skelton (so, yes so am I ) went to see him in Springfield Il at either the PCC or the Sangamon Auditorium I can't remember which one at the moment and was able to go back stage and meet him in person. Now I cant remember the exact year but, It was much later then 1971. Now I will leave you two so, you can continue your discussion lol!!!!

Agree. Just prior to the Phoenix race they ran a really great story about the crash and his recovery. He almost died. I believe Phoenix was his first time back in a racecar. It would sure be fitting if he wins at the 500.

Really bummed it's sold out. Gave up on the Indy thing years ago when they did the IRL / CART split. With no racing in my backyard this weekend, I was throwing the idea of heading over and buying a infield ticket like I did in the past. Unbelievable that general admission infield tickets are sold out. Good for Boy George and the town of Speedway. Time for the folks around the track to make some good camping/parking money.
