We keep finding boxes stacked in front of the fire exit even though we've mentioned it before. Last week a customer had to squeeze past to get out. I'm looking for a read on what public safety leadership can teach private organisations about risk management and building trust, something practical rather than corporate.

A customer squeezing past a blocked fire exit is the kind of thing that only gets fixed after it becomes a headline. I worked somewhere that had the same issue, boxes "temporarily" parked by the back door for months, until a fire marshal walked in unannounced and fined them on the spot. What actually changed behaviour wasn't the fine, it was the manager finally admitting nobody had ever been given a proper place to put deliveries. Public safety leadership is big on this, remove the reason people cut corners rather than just telling them not to. For a practical read on this sort of thing, there's a good interview with Frank Elsner covering security leadership and crisis preparedness without the usual buzzwords. Sort out a designated delivery zone this week and that exit stays clear.
