or we could all just sale our Used up Super Late Model motors "if they would sale" and buy a steel head motor. If a Steel Head Late Model Series would ever form "around this area" then we would be back to 50 cars trying to make these 3,000 to 5,000 races instead of the 18 -28 cars that we are having now.

exactly right joe, nobody is changing rules srrs has always ran spec engines and a 12 inch spoiler. i see where sas is 8 inch spoilers for all cars, maybe nobody shows up, its all fine when a spec motor and spoiler rolls into a place thats azz deep in mud where they dont stand a chance, but bring them to a race where they can compete and listen to the babies whine and cry.

Lamar,
Southern All Star rules are still 12inch spoilers for the SAS Spec engines.Talladega and Columbus are the only two tracks that I know of that makes the SAS Spec motors run an 8 inch spoiler. That the reason I won't support those two tracks.

The open engines definitely need more weight on them. There's no reason to give the all steel engines a 2250# weight break. Nobody can get down to that weight, that I know of. So it's really no break at all. The SPEC and Steel engines should be 2350# w/ 12" spoiler. Alum engines (regardless of CID) should be 2500# w/ 8" spoiler. That's when the weight break starts making sense and the SPEC and Steel engines become more competitive.
Biggest problems with a SPEC & 525 is, you can't run them weekly and SAS has changed the rules to make them just another open engine. 2300 w/ 8" spoiler (from what I was told).
The 56-1600 rear tire rule has helped alot, but until the promoters start policing the chemicals being used on tires, nobody saves money. Period!Last edited by WheelMan#1; 02-03-2013, 03:27 PM.

SRRS has went back to the 8 inch spoiler on the CT525 which is what it was to begin with. The SAS spec engine uses a 12 inch spoiler which is always what it has been. The wildcat races like the ice bowl may claim to run SAS rules but they don't or the SAS spec engine would get a 12 inch spoiler.

spec motor verses 800+ all alum. with 8" blade
I have a LEGAL spec motor/w/3.48 stroke I assembled for dobbins, in 2002, michael page drove my rocket car to 12 top 5's @ dixie w/no weight (2300#) & 8" blade competing w/ some of the best supers in north ga. goes to show ya a good driver can outrun cars w/250 more hp!! nuff said,SmokeyOriginally posted by perfconn View PostDoesn't ruffle my feathers at all.I've been racing for 40years and I'm smart enough to know their is such a thing as handicapping different size engines in the same race.Anyone who expects a spec motor to race even up with a 450ci all aluminum is not real smart.
Race tracks have to try to get all the cars they can and not everyone can afford a 450ci 9* all aluminum engine.Local racing and regional racing has a much tougher deal trying to get WOO and Lucas cars to show up for a $3000.00 to win show.
