Against the rules to have power steering? By God I hope not. Holy chit. I know a guy who who has tons of feature wins and track championships awesome talent and a stout car, started on the front row of a $5k to win 50 lap feature one night and pulled off after 5 laps because he lost power steering. He wasnt gonna wrestle the wheel and endanger other drivers

Sprint cars have so much stagger I could only imagine the sprint car would be much easier to drive because the car wants to go left on its own where a DLM need a little help, especially turning down into the corner. On the other hand the sprints carry so much speed through the corners it would be mentally exhausting getting that baby to go right where you need it. Quarter midgets is as far as I made it so other than logic my opinion is a complete guess.

man things have changed back in the day power steering didn't exist had to have big steering wheels and bigger arms to muscle a car around

Jack Hewitt, who won a bunch of races in both 410 sprints and dirt late models, would take issue with your reasoning in reference to 410 sprint cars being easier to drive than dirt late models. He says in his biography just the opposite. 410 sprint cars also have a much steeper power to weight ratio: 410 sprint cars are required to weigh 1350 lbs. with driver and the engines are making between 825 and 875 horsepower. WoO dirt late models are required to weigh 2300 lbs. and the engines are making around 800 horsepower (I might be a bit generous regarding horsepower).

I remember Steve Barnett racing a USAC Silver Crown car at Terre Haute years ago but I don't remember if he drove sprinters or not.

Tim Crawley has plenty of times. We bought a trailer from him that he home built and used around here. He actually pulled out to Arizona and race. It would haul a Sprint, Late Model, and a Modified. He raced all three many times and won in all three many times.

David Scott did in 1999 and 2000 in Western PA, winning the sprint points at lerverville and finishing 2nd in LM points in 2000 multiple feature wins in both classes.

I agree 100% Krooser, there was very few types of racecars that A.J. didn't drive and win. However, I don't ever remember A.J. driving a modern day generic dirt late model or a mortified.
