Curfews

Whats the deal on these curfews for tracks. Midnight? Some of these tracks running 4 or 5 classes, running till 1 or so in the morning is not acceptable. Fans get tired, and bored with it. IMO, 3 classes is plenty. I know I'll hear they cant pay the purse etc.. but cmon there has to be a breaking point somewhere.

They still got done at around 12 o'clock this Saturday night and they ran 9 classes. No latemodels, No Sprints, No Modifieds and 9 classes, can anybody beat that in the country.

County line in elm city has a curfew and I've seen them plow through some classes to get it done......not sure I've ever seen em run 9 though.

We've seen them run a shoot ton of mods and late models through there at some of the victory junction race for the kids special event stuff over the years..........

I would never go to track running 9 classes. Especially if no late models or sprints. That sounds awful.

Dante that's just the way it is around here. Cherokee Speedway in South Carolina is only about 25 miles away and they race Crate Latemodels every week. No weekly super lates, Modifieds, or Sprints anywhere around here. Every track around here runs 3 classes of 4 cylinders. Believe it or not the 4 cylinders overall race for big money around here. I believe the mmsa 4 cylinder cars race for like $1,500 to win like 15 or more times a year. 4 cylinder nationals at Cherokee pays $5,000 to win every November, Thanksgiving weekend.

I would never go to track running 9 classes. Especially if no late models or sprints. That sounds awful.

Second that. 4 tops personally. Sprints, Super or Crate Lates, BB or UMP Mods, and stocks.

There curfew was fuked. I know it closed because of imminent domain, but it was doomed anyhow.

Generally, I like curfews. It keeps tracks from screwing around some just to kill time and sell hot dogs! Tracks that are in areas with more people around them, seem to have curfews more often. Some tracks, .. um Fort Payne.., like to keep you there as long as possible! It is a negative if you have rain or any type of issue out of your control. Most tracks, in the South at least, run TOO many classes! I would prefer 5-6 tops. But I'm one who would like to see another class at Volusia to start the year! $40 for 2 classes isn't enough racing for me! After a couple times in person, I'm good with Eldora being late model only! We'll see if the curfew comes into play at Dixie this week, but the forecast is good this year.

I know there is a few that can't run on any other night except what they petitioned for. Otherwise they have to go back to the board and get special permission through a vote weeks or months before.

When Thunderbird opened back up here after being closed for 3-4 years, they had the track and the property ready to open and race then go to the board and get approval to open. Could you imagine going through all the work with spending money, workers and volunteers to have it ready and them voting it down.

In California probably 90% of the tracks are on county fairgrounds property and have a state mandated 11:00 p.m. curfew and get fined after that. After too many nights out of state or at non fairgrounds tracks and getting out of, or still waiting in line to go on, the track at 1 or 2 a.m. I like the curfews. Other than a World 100 or the equivalent there's no reason not to finish at a human hour.
