Dirt Racers At Eldora

Maybe, maybe not. We used to run one years ago under the front of the car. Won alot of races with it. Lost alot of races without it. Bloomquist tried something with the window opening. Again, testing and experimenting pays off.

Sorry I'm drawing a blank on who it was but, I was surprised NASCAR allowed the one driver last night to have that "mud" deflector on the hood of the truck. With some track time and experimenting, seems as though that could be used to gain something.

Those deflectors on the hood were standard equipment on USAC and ARCA stock cars that raced on the big dirt tracks like Springfield, Du Quoin, Sedalia and the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Some of the ARCA guys still use them today. During last night's telecast Kenny Wallace eluded to that fact even mentioning Springfield & Du Quoin by name.

I'm just guessing but it's questionable as to whether the speeds at even the big 1 mile dirt tracks would produce enough aerodynamic effect to afford any sort of advantage. Given that Eldora is less than half the size of a mile dirt track it's probably a given that no particular aero advantage could be realized. It didn't seem to help with the mud on the windshield, either.

Except she wasn't directly behind Stewart, she was a couple cars back all the way around one, so she really doesn't have any idea what she's talking about, and it comes off like a spiteful ex-girlfriend. If he had actually swerved to hit Ward, he'd be in jail.

Just a follow up on Justin Shipley he was in top 5 late in race before truck broke he posted on Facebook saying truck blew head gasket and thanking everyone but giving all the credit to God like I said he is a real class act .

I've seen better racing at my local track in the past ten yrs. Always tacky fast!
