I haven't got to 81 much but every time i have been in the dead of summer its blowing dust in hot laps, why would you want the WoO to come for that? i hate when the local tracks schedules a big touring show in those months you are almost guaranteed a train race.Originally posted by Zonks32x View PostUmm...it's a Sunday night race, in late September??? In an area that doesn't have a ton of open motor cars???
With school in session, a sunday night race with a 7pm start time is a poor decision period, regardless of location. The location of this event, as far as drawing slm's makes it a more ? decision.
WoO would've been better served to schedule 2 events this weekend in IL, IA, OH, MI, or WI.
I applaud WoO for visiting a "new" track, but do the event justice and go there in June or July or on a Friday or Saturday if in Sept.

Have you watched the video? Don't think it was a train race... it did looked more like a beat down... Junghans passed 2 cars the last 4 laps.. track had 2 grooves and it looked pretty good on the video.Originally posted by powerslide View PostI haven't got to 81 much but every time i have been in the dead of summer its blowing dust in hot laps, why would you want the WoO to come for that? i hate when the local tracks schedules a big touring show in those months you are almost guaranteed a train race.

81 totally reworked their track at the beginning of the year and fixed a lot of the issues with the surface from years past. seems to be quite a bit racier this year. My only complaint has been how long it takes when they bring the water truck out before the night starts to get the slime worked in and get to a raceable surface. but id rather have a crappy hotlap track and a great feature track than the opposite.
Really surprised more oklahoma/ caney cars didnt support this race though. Im guessing it probably has some to do with the new safety rules and guys not being in compliance yet.

1. Part of the problem was no one was told that they could run the crate 21 tire if you where a crate car, there would have been at least 3 more cars there if they had known this. Not many guys where going to buy a min of 4 tires at over 600.00 for one race and likely couldn't use again.Originally posted by tb1545 View Post81 totally reworked their track at the beginning of the year and fixed a lot of the issues with the surface from years past. seems to be quite a bit racier this year. 2. No one was told they they could run without the fuel cell or fire system if you signed a release form.
Just to be clear when I say no one, that was meaning it was very difficult to get an answer before hand from anyone on what would be allowed.
Why Stoval, Merrill, Timms and some others didn't show up, I'm not sure. There where a few that had issues/broke on Friday or Saturday. There literally isn't 5 supers in Kansas anymore.
The slim has been a problem since they put new dirt and reconfigured the track, but least this time they did a better job packing then normal. I really figured it was gonna be still slimmy in qualifying but they didn't water as much as normal and did pack better.
