EAMS/Phenix City, AL $20,000-to-win vs Carolina Clash at Gaffney, SC $15,000-to-winTell me...I am about the same distance from both tracks here in TN. Was wondering which track will have the best racing. I've never been to either. DoD is bringing the EAMS National 100 live via video but Gaffney, SC Carolina Clash for $15K to win is not being broadcast live.... Which track offers up the best racing? Are either of these two tracks a choo-choo/one lane of racing kind of track? Thanks!

I live right here by EAMS and will say that the state race is a 1 lane snoozer typically. But the national they run all the super stuff later at night and it is much better racing. With the new surface it's much slower but last year was the best racing I've seen on many years. And also was the same throughout the regular season. And I can be extremely critical of them alot of the times. -
I think the better race will be at Cherokee, I am boycotting EAMS after the way they did Southern All Stars at the state. Car count for supers was off, purse loser and entry fees higher, typical EAMS way of doing businessComment

I live close to EAMS and go there often. The Natl 100 supers run 3 nights with possible $30k purse. They 10 different classes starting Friday night. If you are up for 3 days of racing it's a good show and the new dirt is racier but a little slower. I have never been to Cherokee but sure it's a good show also and they run the week after EAMS this year. Thank you, Punisher88 for your candor. I appreciate your insights. I've never been to EAMS. I've heard good things about the racy surface of the track. I'm not much of a fan of day time racing, even on a Sunday afternoon in November. I'm not sure which I'd rather go to (even though I know they are separate weekends). I'm just not much of a day racing fan as the tracks tend to get dry, dusty, etc. but considering I am hungry for racing, I am tempted to give either Gaffney or Phenix City, AL a shot. The dust during the daytime is very minimal at Eams lately. They sprinkle the track with water before every feature and give each class a few hot laps to run the slick off. It helps it widen out a ton and keeps the racing lame wider. I was able to drive up through the field way better at this year's state race than I ever have in years past. And they guys I help in the 602 late model class, one cam from near 20th and was running 4th or 5th in 10 laps.Comment

If you go to Gaffney, sit in the vicinity of the men's restroom down towards turn 1. There you will get a sense of how fast they are going and how violently they sling the cars down there!Comment

I will even say this, EAMS is known for daytime racing in those big 3-4 day shows.
However, it is one of the few places to where the drivers have multiple lanes during the day to race.
Choo Choo races for there is not the norm.
I know Punisher88 and I think we are both critical of EAMS. But there are not many venues that can prep a surface to allow for multilane tracks during the day like they do.
When it comes to the National 100, the track prep and the changes the track goes through at the beginning, middle and end of that one race is incredible. It goes from hammer down, to a small cushion and sometimes right up to the edge of the track, then starts to slick off, then the slick widens through the entire corner. To win, you have to be good on all those conditions. The race is always fun to watch as the leaders come and go in the different stages of the track. Always passing during the race. The restarts can get wild as they go 3-4 wide at times for the first couple laps.
If you don't go for the weekend, it can be worth the time for a Sunday only trip.Comment
