Rumor has it Shirley and GR have parted ways. Can anyone confirm?

If Shirley is indeed out, who should replace him? Donald McIntosh would be a great driver for that team. Donald trying to run an unproven chassis with an unproven motor was doomed from the start.

I wouldn't say doomed, but he would face some challenges. If nobody ever tries anything new or different we'd end up with 1 or 2 brands that mirror each other... Oh wait we do have that. The engine choice was unusual, but he showed speed at GIS and that place requires some HP. The car as I understand it isn't much different than the major brands and similar to what he was already use to. So he had an engine failure from his new engine, so what? Overton lost 2 Andy Durham engines in florida, should he leave the Weaver team too? No. McIntosh will be fine.

I would like to see them contact Jonathan Blankenship, don't know what his current situation i,but he was a hell of a wheelman who had a unfortunate end to his career.imo

Unfortunate end? He quit because daddy couldn't fund his hobby anymore... He didn't even try to put something together on his own, he just left. Could he drive? Yes, he was much improved, but he isn't trustworthy as demonstrated by taking his zero car to shinnston to have it copied. No thank you.

That seems to be the most sensible plan for any racer around the Midwest. Unless someone else is paying the bills.

Why not sell to someone in the series. Or gr go back to racing himself.

He goes and races a national tour himself and he’ll be selling out faster than with another driver. He didn’t get the “Guard Rail” nickname for nothing. GR balances a few good runs here and there with a bunch of not so good runs.

Yea i seen him put it in the trees over turn1&2 wall at wythe speedway a few yrs back. Funny thing about it was it was some towing company night at the track lol. The got the big twin screw wrecker out to pick him out off the wall.
