I can only imagine what the larger teams like Hendrick, SHR, Gibbs, etc with 300 and 400 hundred employees spend in a year????

It's a bit different when your driver(s) are either winning weekly, running top 5's and top 10's and not tearing up multiple cars. Not 20th or farther back laps down or crashed out.

Well the max to start was 43 at one time. If teams weren't limited to 4 cars per team I think you'd see 45-47

Races are mostly boring as he11, few cautions to bunch the field up and give more opportunity to tune a poor handling car, which means 15 or so cars on the lead lap. Bad formula.

I will say that even tho the on-air product is boring, it’s fun going to a race. I’ve been to the last 2 Daytona 500s and would go every year if I could now. The $40 UNOH Fanzone pass on Saturday for the Xfinity race and Cup Final Practice was worth every penny.

The MRN guys are way better to listen to.

I usually have it on the tv in the back ground while at the shop but its just not fun to watch except the last laps. Other than that who cares.

Back when Roush ran 5 cup teams, i heard him say it cost a little under a mill to take one single team to the race track for a race weekend. He also had a truck team, and 2 grand national teams at the same time. I couldn't imagine what the cost of what it would be with today's standards.

Remember though also. Teams like Hendrick for example also owns some dealerships and has other vested interests. SHR has some pretty deep pockets. Enough to dip in to Formula 1 even. And you think Nascar is expensive try formula 1. Penske has Penske trucking for example and other interests. Roush has his after market Roush parts industry and some kind of a natural gas fuel system venture. But remember they also have John Fenway as a partner also. He owns the Boston Red Sox, Fenway park, FC Liverpool and the stadium they play in, a minor league baseball team, sports marketing group and a regional sports tv channel in the New England area and whatever else there might be.

No wonder NASCAR tracks have a lot of empty seats. I was a die hard at one time and never would miss a race on TV. It's gotten to be so boring and everybody running the same car with different manufacture decals is stupid. The money aspect and what it takes to operate a NASCAR team has gotten way out of hand. (similar to all types of racing)

I'm not sure you would. I mean Roush was the only (5) car team back when they allowed it, and look at him, they struggle to keep 2 cars going. Childress cut back to 2 cars. As good as the Penske team has been, they just moved to 3 cars this year.

And as far as car counts this year. It's been
                            Daytona - 40
                            Atlanta - 36
                            Las Vegas - 37
                            California - 37
                            Martinsville (this week) 38

So, they aren't filling the field even at 40.

And corporate profits are at an all time high. Wait til the economy tanks and sponsorships get more scarce.
