I love seeing the local/semi-regional guys like Thirlby, Mataragas and Manville running toward the front.

That wreck which involved Schlenk flipping was caused by Brian Shirley and his patented “Brake Check†on restarts... Shirley has always been an idiot though, so I’m not surprised

I’m sorry I picked on your girlfriend. She got her chance when I drove 6-7 hours to Paducah, for a debacle. Shame of it was, it was a good feature, with Francis winning on the last lap. Why’d she leave KKK then? Why’d the screw off last night? I’m all ears, she has a helluva a pattern/track record.Originally posted by IL LM Fan View PostTell us how she ran Kankakee into the ground. Were you even there? She's been doing quite well for years with Team Demo at 66 as well. Been there either?Up in the air who my next “favorite†driver is. She left Kankakee because of the Fair board. The County Fair Board there is a complete joke. They have ran off the Izzo Family, O'Connor Family, Osterhoff Family promoted for a year, and they ran off Sherri, and now they are screwing with Tom Smith. Anyone that lives in the Chicagoland region knows the K3 board is a bunch of B.S. You had one bad experience. That doesn't mean she is a bad promoter. The NHRA Sanctioned dragstrip there in Joliet has a lot of say in what the dirt Oval does. But On the flip side this past off season the Fair Board took out an add in a racing magazine looking for a promoter. They say Dave Wennington in the promoter this year but Tom is still there helping.
GOOD DAY FOLKS. SEE YOU ALL LATER.
I'LL try to do a few updates from Plymouth night.Nathan Stephens

I hear what you're saying, and I agree to a point. Yes, get the track right but...start the program close to on time. A near two hour delay when a track had ALL day/week to get the race surface ready is bad practice. It's not like this race was just scheduled two days ago & nobody knew they were racing tonight.
We talk on this board all the time about attracting and keeping new fans. A night like this, starting late and a bunch of down time, doesn't help sell new fans on dirt racing. Especially if those first timers brought kids. They likely won't be back when they leave at 10pm and only saw 30 minutes of racing.
When I buy a ticket to a baseball game and that ticket says 7:00pm, I know with 100% certainty that the first pitch will be at 7:00. I'm not sitting in my seat at 8pm waiting for the game to start b/c six guys are mowing the grass on the field.
When I buy a ticket to a football game, I know the game is going to kick-off at noon. The game doesn't start late b/c the grounds crew is still lining the field.
I buy a ticket to a dirt race and the ticket/track website says racing starts at 6:30. I know that start time doesn't mean a hill of beans. I'm gonna get there at 6:30pm and still see some kind of trucks, tractors, or other form of old rusted-out pieces of $@!# still packing the track.
No new fans would ever show up if the ticket or track website said, "Races start at 6:30 "ish"...rarely on time, but before 8pm."

Whatever the excuse was, whether it was a water ban, waiting for the sun to go down, wanting to get the track right, stretching the show to sell more food, etc., there is no excuse for a failure to COMMUNICATE. If it really was a delay due to the water ban or waiting for the temperature to go down, then that should have been shared with the paying customers. Hell, they head 3 announcers, I’d like to think one of them could have said something. Instead, they tried to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes by having some 10 year olds and some announcer that likes to scream “Make some noise!†throw some t-shirts 8 rows up into the bleachers. You only get one chance to make a first impression, and there were a lot of disappointed fans that watched a tractor show thinking that’s how things are normally done. Many around me said they would never come back. That frustration could have been reduced with a little communication and honesty. Whatever the BS is that gets in the way, like fair boards, county laws, the weather, or disappointing car counts, it is much better to communicate with your customers and be honest with them. It builds this important quality known as trust. Something I don’t have with this track or promoter anymore.

A lot of these promoters don't appear to understand that many fans travel a few hours or more for these events (or maybe they just don't care). The people I sat with were very upset about all the screwing around, and they are hard core fans. All the pack trucks in the world weren't going to widen out the groove. It may have actually been a better feature if they hadn't rolled it in after every class. This looked more like a cash grab, since the concessions are the same ones from the NASCAR track ($16 for a sandwich and a watered down lemonade). I'm glad I didn't buy anything at Peoria or Kankakee, because last night made up for those. The track is too flat to widen out in a timely manner. Don't tell me social media is killing this sport. I'm so sick and tired of that horsecrap copout excuse. It's not starting at the advertised time and screwing around all night and keeping everybody there until 11:30 for three classes, two of which were under 15 cars, and running the headlining feature dead last that's killing this sport. I'm a diehard, so I stayed until the bitter end, but I can't imagine how put off a first timer or a casual fan must be after a night like that. These promoters do not care about time management, and biting the hands that feed them will come back to haunt them sooner than later as the core fanbase isn't getting any younger. What happened last night doesn't exactly make me want to go back in October.Opinions are my own. Twitter.com/ShinySideUp18

Shiny side up you are dead on. I am a hard core fan and attend 35-40 races a year. I travel all over the country to see them. But the piss poor time management drives me nuts.
