i remember the golden isles race, they took pearson tire in the shed and pulled the valve stem, they about died. tire prep has been around forever but it got real serious when they did the 10 10,000 races at golden isle in 08, we had 1100's on and were getting beat by half a second by scott, madden, and pearson, they had softened up 20's then because the side wall was stiffer than a 1100. nowdays there are all different types of prep, most of which either make a tire fire faster or last longer, very few people actually use prep to soften tires.

For those asking about Pearson's illegal tire, he was caught at Golden Isles around 2010 or so while driving the Dunn Benson car

how many series titles did Pearson win in a row when Lucas began? Always thought the Dunn Benson and Lucas Oil sponsor was fishy, as in getting a free pass.

i dont remeber but i dont think it was when davenport got caught, i know that was still during the time that it wasnt illegal to do series wise, i know the track was the ones that put an end to it that weekend. im not sure about lucas but i know the woolms made it illegal around may of 09

I could be mistaken, but I pretty sure T-mac had to change his tire with EPJ. Nothing was done they both just changed tires and both allowed to race. IIRC it was RR tires

i cant really remeber either, been alot of races since then. i do rember pearson though because we were parked near the shed. i do rember nothing really came out of it though as it wasnt illegal yet. it was more a track call than anything.

The manufactures of the tire doping junk tell the drivers/teams that is undectectable. In fact they openly advertise that in some magazines, on webpages, etc.

Eventually, the sanctioning bodies catch up with them.
