Look at a Late Model from 2015 and one from today and note the difference.

Love those two photos, Richard! Any chance you could followup with specifics on how the evolution in body styles affects the cars at speed? I'm guessing that the dished RH side of the body acts to hold the car in the corners better, the same thing a sprint car wing does -- but I'd like to hear it from somebody who knows for sure. And wouldn't it create more drag on a straightaway?
Also what about the other body changes we've seen?

Drag really isn't a concern with most any open engine cars, as downforce pretty much trumps any drag that is added. Take the rear spoiler angle, while at 60 degree's and increase to 70 degrees the drag may go up 5% but it adds 10% downforce to the rear of the car. At a certain point increasing more adds way more drag % but add only a very small % of downforce, you will take the small gain there even with the large drag increase since we have way more power then needed.

The typical drag of a LM a few years ago, while high it still only takes 400ish HP to go 120MPH so they have plenty of power to go way faster top speed then we typically run.

Winner, Winner! Chicken Dinner! Its also why fewer weekly cars enter series races. If they run weekly and are legal they stand no chance against a fully cheated up touring car. That DLM council is friggin' joke, they worry about homemade suspension pieces and seats that cause concussions and entrapment, but let the obvious body rule infractions go by. I guess things will have to get worse before they get better. I firmly believe we'd be better off with "NO" national sanctioning bodies. JMO

We never had a toter and stacker, but our late models had always fit in our trailer since 1991. But these last couple of years they fit, but the nose brushes both sides when loading.

its very simple. just make them be straight. that's not that hard.
Give them a slight tolerance.
