Its 100% true. With the caveat that running a cushion consistently is NOT easy. Running a tacky line with no character however is very easy.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

It's not true. You are talking about only one aspect of a track and also about a track of limited character. The dry slick so called artists require a setup that gets more power to the ground and this is done by setup, not driver. Or not "only" driver.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostIts 100% true. With the caveat that running a cushion consistently is NOT easy. You can't just mash the throttle and go on a dry slick track like you can a tacky track. Everyone feels like Superman on a tacky track.

I raced very consistently for a good decade. I can tell you that keeping your tires from spinning and recognizing wheelspin is MUCH harder than letting it eat in high traction conditions.Originally posted by Clayton_Wetter View PostIt's not true. A better setup can help you beat the other guy, but it is only worth a very tiny amount. On the other hand, if you have 75 more hp on a tacky track you eat their lunch.Last edited by MasterSbilt_Racer; 08-09-2018, 01:36 PM.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

We both have our bias. It bet you would have liked to have that extra 75 horse. hahaOriginally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostI raced very consistently for a good decade. You need to go back and read some old interviews from your hero Scott where he talks about qualifying heros at Eldora being in the way once racing started because they had courage and engine but no skill.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Bingo! When car and throttle control are required the good drivers finesse their way to the front.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostYou need to go back and read some old interviews from your hero Scott where he talks about qualifying heros at Eldora being in the way once racing started because they had courage and engine but no skill.

Drivers are no different than fans; if it isn't to suit them and their advantage they are going to b!tch about it.
Guy with big motor wants a heavy track, guy with a shock deal wants a slick track. Guy with both wants heads up format on a track that's hard to pass and easy on equipment.
I used to really like the hammer down tracks; but those don't produce good racing anymore and I blame aero more than anything. If it's completely slicked off and blowing dust, you can't get enough power down to make the moves you need to make and pass someone slower.
The best type of track going now for about any class is one that slicks off in the middle but has a slight cushion up top and a little moisture to find on the very bottom still.
About the only tracks that can produce this perfect racing surface are the tracks that rework the surface once or twice a night. Which means everyone b!tches about tractor shows and down time."The Wise One"
