Almost certainly slightly less safe. But, you are correct it is something that doesn't matter. It is getting dq'd on a technicality.

Question for my fabricators, when you "jig" a car does tubing size matter? Could you jig someones car exact but use a different size?...

Jigging refers to locating the suspension mounting points in space and other critical locations. The car won't act the same if you copy it, but use different size tubing in critical locations. Door bars not really being one of those. You don't need a jig to know the size of door bars. Just a measurement device.

I think I follow so when you build a chassis jig it wont so much help you copy a car bend for bend how ever a jig will allow you to put all the mounts and such in the exact same place on a car every time?

you can jig any car, if you dont know what to put on it and what measurements its all at, its still a crap shoot, tubing sizes do matter but like masters has said it depends on where you putting it, also the kind of metal that is used is a factor, it wouldn't surprise me for a titanium chassis to be out there, think about the cost there, with bumpers and all the add ons, now you can really put the weight where you want it, it can be done, put a little metal flake in the paint and the magnet will stick too
