    LaSalle

Last years Lucas race was not cancelled due to not being able to make the purse payout.

Tony Izzo video posted on Facebook just a little while ago.

He's right about an "event" rather then just a "race". You have to think big then produce... I've been in the planning stages of those events... some things we did some we didn't. You have to weigh the cost vs. the potential return on your money.

If you can't do it big then the naysayers will have a field day with you.

You mean the ones that don’t actually go to races but criticize anyway from their all knowing view sitting at the keyboard?
        I hate time trials.

Personally I’d rather just have a race rather than try to do an event and then not be able to make it happen

I guess I don't understand the point of saying you could afford the purse if you couldn't afford the purse plus extra stuff you wanted to do.

Can someone help me understand the difference between an event and a race at a small track like LaSalle? Is there going to be a ferris wheel? Is Guns N Roses playing? Why only 50 laps for such a large amount of hype?

Sounds like another FANS FUND, Dirt Million (thats not really a million).

Its a crazy society we are turning into. Paying more than the ticket price to "fund" millionaire racers efforts..meanwhile, taxpayers are donating millions towards are border wall.

No wonder other countries laugh at us.

Log out of Facebook, put down the phone, and concentrate on promoting your track. I don’t see any benefit to adding unnecessary drama.

                    Let me help you.
An event is something more then just a race.
As is the case of last years race that was cancelled because things didn't come together as planned.
There was a planned parachute landing, Possible aircraft fly over, Some military folks there, and a whole lot more to help and support our troops.
When you add up the money that would have cost the track a ton.
Tony has never cut or missed on payout.
A race is simply that just a race.

                    As for your last comment.
Until you've been effected by an illegal in a bad way some where in you life in this country.
You will never understand why folks want that wall so badly as some do.
Maybe it's a bad idea or maybe it's a good idea I would like to see are borders protected better then what they are.
If it means building a wall so be it.

Exactly. My wife and I had holidays planned to go to that cancelled Lucas race last year which would have been a 645 mile (11hrs) drive from our home. To hear his lame ___ excuse just makes me more sure that I will never travel or go to a race or race track that he is promoting, even if he gave me free tickets. We weren't going there for the gimmicks, we were going there for a Lucas Oil Late Model race. Now he wants to hold a race (fan fueled) where the fans are involved and put out money ahead of time to hold the race. A little warning to donors , be careful of these type of situations, you may never see a race (take a look at last year's Lucas race) with your donated money, or if cancelled, you may never see your money back.

Last years Lucas race has nothing to do with the Fan Fueled 50K.
I've seen better races at LaSalle then I have at most other tracks beside FALS.
What makes you think that was an excuse.
Planning an event like that is no easy task.
Just looking at the over head price.
Holding that race was going to cost big and the cost was probably higher then expected.
Planning an event of that magnitude could not have been easy to do.
If your going to do an event like that your either all in or just not have the event at all.
Just look at the Dirt Million.
A lot of folks complained about it.Yet it was still a good race even thought the purse never got to the million.
Maybe it's an event he shouldn't have held.
A race / event like that would have been great to see.
I'm not defending him nor will I be mad about it.
I like to see promoters that are willing to stick their neck out.

When I was on the staff at Capital in '83 I came up with the hare brained idea of a late season race event called the October Nationals.

We ran 8 divisions, featured a $20,000 purse with two nights of partying with free beer and live music under a 5,000 sq ft tent.

Just getting late models, sportsman, midgets, pavement sprinters and super modifieds together for one weekend was a challenge.

If you haven't tried an event like this trust me it's a hell of a lot of work and a financial challenge not many guys have the balls to attempt. My track owners had the guts to do it despite every other promoter telling us we were nuts.

You put on a show for the fans and everything else will take care of its self the fans came to see a race if you put on a show they'll be back if you don't see you later you don't need all the extra stuff that sounds like an excuse too me.

I hate to say this cause I dont know Tony, but I knew a guy who spoke and acted alot like Tony does and he was a aways crying wolf about one thing or another, getting screwed, but in the end it was always that guy who was doing the screwing...
