I made the trip out that way from IL in about 1983 or 1984 for an NDRA show. I remember staying at a Red Roof Inn and the parking lot was like a pit area. Many teams working on their cars in the lot. Was having breakfast somewhere and Rodney Combs was sitting across from me. Also remember Larry Moore and Jeff Purvis were rising stars at that time. Very cool memories. I'm shocked someone is going to invest the amount of $$$ it will take to resurrect I-70 again. Obviously someone thinks they can turn a profit on big races.

They built the walls pretty much vertical rather than perpendicular to the track surface. Used to launch them out of there. You can see it in the photos. Lucky nobody outside the track got seriously hurt.
