So can the tire rule and let them just run open?

I used to be a "Tire Rule" guy but as of lately Open Tire rules are the best.

Your running against new tires all the time anyway, so you may as well run what you want.

This whole business of Lucas and WRG and having a different tires just adds to the complexity, and the additional costs to a small budget team.

Also, i don't care about the softener either. Its not the end all to speed, ran it before etc, its not going to out right win races.

      Just say no...

Most guys I have known to juice tires juice em to make them last longer. Meaning, it’s more prevalent among lower budgeted teams, because they can’t throw new tires at the car every week. It isn’t always about softening, in fact, most times it’s not.

And BBQ, the no juicing rules are mostly dictated by whatever tire company a particular sanction uses, because they want to sell more tires and have sanctions in their pocket. You know that.

Exactly. It is all about money. If they make you buy "X" tire to run their series, guess who is making money.....everybody but the racer.

Yes, I did know that......I was hoping someone had a better answer to why other than greed.

I mean, it’s not entirely true that the racer doesn’t make any money. Most of the point funds, particularly on the local and regional levels, are propped up by tire companies.

Fractions of pennies on the dollar compared to what they make you purchase to be able to compete........I'm betting the racers would much rather control their own fate and their own potential winnings fom " the point fund" and let them save the monies they are wasting on new tires.

Knock out 12/15 new tires every year from the bill and that around 1500/1800 bucks saved right there.......probably more than most racers who aren't top 3 get anyway from a point fund.

All loose numbers, and I'm not 100% sure if I'm in the ball park.....but I bet I'm close.

You usually can buy a tire for $145 - $160, new. Used ones $30 to $60 thats around here, Cincy Ohio.

Yes, softener helps low budget guys run used tires to prolong the life.

Doesn't in seem pretty strange for a guy like Kent to do this at a 5k to win show? From what I can tell he strikes me as one of the more respected drivers amongst his peers sorta speak???

yes, yes it does.....maybe they can give him a polygraph to clear his name.
                      Smdh.

The dreaded tire farce again, it can't go away soon enough.

Yes, and he’s been running big shows with tire tests for how long now??

Im with you BBQ, these guys are usually bolting a new rr rf on for a 10k race anyway, and with technology the way they got they got the cars gripping the track, in a 50-100 lapper whos to say you cant juice a tire too much and it fade in the late going...so im not sure juicing can be perfected down to an exact science anyway...

The whole thing just gets dumber and dumber every year it happens.......and nobody wanting to just man up and say why they test for juiced tires to begin with.

Even though most everyone knows why and who mandates it.
