I don’t think it has anything to do with being scared. It’s a small, tight, fifth mile. I think a lot of guys don’t like a track that small and don’t wanna risk tearing stuff up. And it just doesn’t fit them.

I think it’s a neat place, and like seeing races from there. But what scares them guys if anything is tons of speed. Like the old Syracuse, WVMS, Belleville. I mean heck, most love Eldora and Knoxville.

They did the first time I went there, they were passing everywhere. Track did not turn black though.

Tazewell is awesome in some ways, which is why I keep going back occasionally — since that magical HAT race in the late 1990s. But we never see that kind of racing now.
