Good post piercefan I agree with you, I've always been told to hold your line and the leader will pass you.

I didn't see the race but have listened to many hall of famers lament back markers when they are going for a win. and have witnessed several of them move a car out of the way after a lap or two. sometimes gently. sometimes not so much.

someone earlier in this thread mentioned the racer in 2nd has an advantage when approaching traffic. completely agree and from what I've read here that sounds like the case last night.

another response to an earlier comment: the youth movement has me very excited about the future. would love to be around 20 years from now reading 4m about Sheppard and Pierce (and others) the same way as the moyer/bloomquist loyalists talk.

Here's the thing -- nearly every Summernational at a bullring lapped traffic comes into play. IMO Pierce was lucky that many of the field had fallen out, otherwise lapped traffic would have come into play earlier like it has in SEVERAL Jacksonville summernationals. I've never seen lapped traffic get out of the way at Jacksonville. After the pass, Brandon pulled away.

That's the general understanding in the pits, but when you see that flag and you're racing side by side, wouldn't common sense tell you that you're holding the leaders up?

Where do you go then imcryn2? You don't know how fast the leaders are coming up on you what line they're running what if they're side by side? Alot of things could have happen say one guy backed out and Bobby or brandon got into them then people would be saying he should have held his line. It's part of racing sometimes you're lucky and sometimes not.

Don't attack me either but Bobby has no problem moving somebody for the win he certainly should have no problem moving a back marker to get back in position to win......I'm really surprised he didn't, he probably should have .
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

I bet I’ve watched the last 5 laps on DoD at least 10 times and it just gets better and better every time I watch it!!

Pierce cleared lap traffic right after Brandon but in less than two laps, B5 gapped him by a straight.

He didn't because, he knew there would be a 20 page thread on 4m with people cussing and fighting. He then would have to make another t-shirt and that would cause another 20 page thread about that so, he decided it wasn't worth it and backed off. lol

Those last six laps & watching them two go at it in traffic. Was a fun thing to watch. Bobby did say on the Dod recap. That he had a tire going down. I don't know if that was a factor or not.

Why can't drivers just say they got beat by somebody that was better that night???

There aren't many that can bring themselves to admit it but dam it's refreshing when they do.
