Xtreme DIRTcar Series - Coming in Winter 2020.

This has us interested because several of the races are in our neck of the woods. Can’t find any info besides the schedule though. Mostly curious about the race formats. Are these going to be full shows, including heat races? Or are they going to be like a lot of the Deep South shows in which they qualify, lock the top 16 or so into the feature (no heats) and then run a B main. If they’re going to be full shows, we’ll be there. If it’s going to be that other deal, we won’t be.

It says they will follow the WRG Rule Book so we will see for sure for the Blue Grey at Cherokee in November

I am curious as to who decided to make this series was it a combination of drivers asking for it and the WRG guys obliging or was it WRG just making a new series and seeing what happened

Agreed. Only a few races, and no one has to go, but, at the same time, if you live relatively close it’s pretty tempting.

The season has already been extended. Then this.

And lets not forget that the World of Outlaws will start there season in January in New Mexico so there really is not a whole lot of an off season and I would think that if you lived close and thought about running the World of Outlaw series then you may try and run this little mini series to use it as research and development on different things

This isn't like NASCAR where they only have one opportunity for an off-season. Unless you're running one of the two big series fulltime, you can take time off whenever you want in dirt racing. There's plenty enough drivers who don't race 70 events a year that will gladly show up. This is just a handful of races and they're running them in areas that usually aren't hit by any real winter weather yet. As for fans, I've no doubt that won't be an issue. Every race I attend the bleachers are packed. Attendance will never be an issue. We want more racing, not less. And down here in the south, believe me, we need it.

Golden Isles has a $5K to win show on the first Saturday in December. That would seem to be a perfect fit for this series and would bring a better field than what they'd get unsanctioned.

Right off the bat it will be interesting to see who races in the Blue/Gray that otherwise wouldn't be there.

Agree that a lack of a "True" off season is bad. I get the dome race as it's unique with being inside an actual stadium away from the elements but non stop racing sort of devalues the experience IMO. Take it away for a few months to make fans really want it back and give drivers/teams a true break to regroup and reset.
