Where will they take Ryan's car after this bad crash? I am curious if they will take it to the research and development center to go over it with a fine tooth comb to see if any of the safety measures failed or will it go back to the shop and be destroyed

NASCAR is taking both Newman's and Lajoie's cars to the R&D Center.

I thought so man I would love to be in the R&D center to look at those cars and the helmets and other safety equipment that both drivers were wearing and using. Call me morbid or crazy but with my background in fire and cutting on cars I just would love to see them to see how they cut the car and how the seat was and all of that stuff

My next question would be to Nascar did they do a debriefing after the race was over with their safety teams on how they did things and what they could've done different and what they did right. I'm not saying they did anything wrong but I would love to know what they took away from the incident and what they could do to make it better for the next one if that was to happen

My question to NASCAR is why did the yellow not come out immediately when the wreck started and why did they let them race back to the flag stand. NASCAR has no class and does not care about their drivers, this is the last time that I will watch them. I will watch my Lucas Oil Racing TV and get a few months o DirtVision a year and then head to as many dirt races as I can .

Thankfully Nascar cared enough about it's drivers that in 2007 they came out with the car of tomorrow which moved the drivers seat over 4 inches towards the center of the car and strengthen the chassis so, it could take more of a high speed impact. No one knows if this saved Ryan Newman's life or not but, it sure might have.

Thankfully Nascar cared enough about it's drivers they installed safer barriers at their tracks.

Thankfully Nascar cared enough to require head and neck restraint after Dale SR. death. so, don't say Nascar doesn't care enough about it's drivers.

I will say I agree they do deserve some criticism for not throwing the caution flag sooner.

If they had thrown the caution, you would be b1tching that the race didn’t end under green, like exactly what happened Saturday in the Xfinity race!

Sometimes, NASCAR is just fighting a losing battle

Sure Nascrap cares about drivers ….if they lose drivers they lose fans! If they lose fans....they lose money! The whole Nascrap deal is about taking thousands of fans money and making a few people rich!

Almost the same as crate /steelhead versus open motors.....the casual fan can tell No difference.
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

Im about as anti nascar as they come but. One thing i will say is they go above and beyond to do everything they can to maintain and improve driver safety. Aswell as emergency response at crash scenes. This was unfortunate racing incident but nothing more. Im sure nascar will adjust the package to try and prevent this at the next restrictor plate race

In the last 25 years there has been 520 drivers killed in racing accidents. There are between 600 to 800 people a year killed on bicycles.

If you say NASCAR doesn't care about safety, you are either not paying attention, or are bent on finding something NASCAR-related to whine about. There is no question they care, and no question that every decision they make will be questioned by many. Can they improve, sure. Do they care about their drivers, absolutely.

My guess is Nascar did not throw the caution at the initial wreck because the cars kept moving and there were very few (2?) cars well behind that wreck. If either car stopped, requiring emergency response, a caution would have came.

He's lucky the fuel that was pouring out of the car didn't ignite. Nascar does not care about their drivers, if they did they wouldn't have restrictor plate races at all. Sure hope to see 100% recovery.
